alanharper
Imagine being a well run club who sell their best players for their maximum value. No ambition
Owl_For_a_Lifetime
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68691248 They really have rinsed Chelsea.. Next year's figures will include Caicedo and Sanchez deals worth at least £125m. Also noticeable that Tony Bloom has invested over £400m in interest free loans of which he's only just now started to be paid back (£33m). Amazing what investing in club infrastructure, knowledgeable staff and a good scouting network will do. Having contingency planning for the loss of Dan Ashworth, Graham Potter & numerous players also helps..

Kopparberg
It’s incredible and well done to them, they’ve shown plenty of clubs up in the Prem, making money and no apparent ‘cheating’ involved I think they’ll maintain it for some time - however (I don’t want to say this) but there may come a time where it runs it’s course and they have a bad season - like Southampton, when they were selling players to Liverpool etc, then eventually came unstuck

Sham67
Probably easy when you’re stadium is owned by two public bodies.
punkskaphil
It's also helpful when one of your fans happens to become very, very rich through gambling.
Bannofan
It's easy to say ' That could have been us' , but I don't think it's as simple as that, the ground issue being a huge example of that. Still, a lot to be admired about Brighton as a very well run football club, and gives hope that there are decent owners out there. They have a great combination of cleverly overseas buys like Mac Allister, Trossard, Caicedo, Sancez etc , and more 'home grown' finds like Ben White, Evan Ferguson, Lamptey, Hinshlewood . Chuck in a couple of old pros like Lallana, Welbeck and Milner and you have a very well balanced squad.
TheGaffer
All those saying they were gifted a stadium.....we'll we'd bought our over 100 years ago. We weren't paying anything for it and could easily out perform any gate receipts they receive....if we had wanted to. We didn't use any of the advantages our infrastructure gave us since 1993. Instead we've stagnated and in case of infrastructure, gone backwards by at least 25% in terms of capacity and 100% in terms of ownership. It's been poor choices by those in charge that's lead to this from our side, great choices from Brighton's side Edited April 3 by TheGaffer 1
Wynyard Owl
Brighton are one off the clubs that were always thought of as third and fourth Division in the days of radios Saturday night results programme Sports Report in the late 1940s Portsmouth were the darlings of the South Coast teams and the football annuals were packed with reports of their exploits in winning the First Division Title now those clubs have passed one another at least there was movement and interest we have let opportunities slip in this time scale Who would have thought Brighton could have risen above us and how did the popular Portsmouth go wrong
