Who like?

He managed us the over spending and poor recruitment lead eventually to us getting relegated, he managed Swansea a season later they are relegated.

Rio Ave this season avoid relegation by just 3 points the season after Carlos left they could well go down next season if the Carlos affect continues.

Pre to us managed Istanbul Basaksehir the season after Carlos left they were relegated.

that's 4 of his last 4 years all either getting relegated or in Rio Ave case surviving by one win. If that's not a pattern then I don't know what is.

'Carvalhal returned to Portugal one year later, being named Rio Ave FC's coach,[34] In his only season, he led the team from Vila do Conde to Europa League qualification in fifth place, along with a best-ever points tally of 55'.

They came 5th and achieved their best ever points tally? How can you blame Carlos for the season he wasn't in charge? 😬 😆

It's very clear that the overspending wasn't Carlos' doing and it was at the door of the Chairman. We had an incredible first season. Second season we lost our way a little but Carlos is a good manager and was largely good for us.

Fair point didn’t realise that.

Could be a number of reasons though. Maybe Carlos is just such a good manager that clubs struggle when he leave.

lol

This really.

Overspending is what cost us. Not Carlos.

He left here 3 and a half years before we were relegated. Can’t see how that’s his fault tbh.. it’s as much Danny Wilson’s fault as Carlos’s

The last 4 teams Carlos has Managed have all got relegated or in Rio Ave, case survive by only 3 points shortly after he has left.

There could be a very good reason all through his career he rarely stays anywhere longer than a season.

At us he got a fit, healthy team produced by Stuart Gray within 2 season we had regularly 10+ players unfit. That's down to the coaches and the recruitment.

Indeed but how many players in Carlos squad were still at the club and costing us millions each season.ow

look DC is at fault but it's worrying what happens to clubs after Carlos leaves, it's almost he sets the seed for failure their after. Or they are paying the price for the season he was there.😁😁😁

I love how is widely acknowledged that the club had a recruitment team, and they and the Chairman picked the players for Carlos (including Jordan Rhodes).

Until it's time to discuss Carlos.

Then it was him who bankrupted the club.

Well I don’t know much about the other clubs, but he obviously took Swansea down which was annoying for them as he gave them hope then didn’t finish the job. That Rio Ave side are a tiny club aren’t they.. not sure if he just smashed expectations or what.

In terms of us, we’ve had plenty of time to refresh the squad and rebuild. We were a mid table side for 2 years after he left. Chansiri lost his cheque book though and has allowed it to keep getting worse

Swansea were pretty much down before Carlos arrived - bottom of the table at Christmas always goes down and they had 13 points from 20 games at the point he took over. Results improved a little, they took 20 points from their last 18 games and rose 2 places up the table to 18th. But saying he got them relegated is letting Paul Clement off the hook. Bit like saying Shreeves got us relegated in 99/00 not Danny Wilson.

New Wolves gaffer. Assistant to Carlos at Wednesday.

Carlos and Bruno not done bad since they left us have they?

Us on the other hand….

hey! credit where it's due, he was on the scrapheap before we set him on.

we were on the scrapheap before he left, wonder where we'd be now IF he stayed and we'd gone down that season instead?

I was pulling Sally leg with my original post but in true Owlstalk fashion others on here have got the wrong end of the stick. Not yourself by the way.

Bad recruitment cost us and for the last 3 season the lack of recruitment and reliance on poor and expensive loan signings.
