We'll do our best, but we need to start scoring again. We've looked a bit poor in the scoring stakes recently hence our desparation to sign a striker / some strikers.

Don't think anyone wants to pay what you're asking for Rhodes. He's going to end up going out on loan isn't he?

Maybe he will, depends if he's fussed about his gametime - we've put Downing up for loan because he isn't happy.

Price we're asking for Rhodes is roughly what we paid for him. If we sell him, great that's 10-12 mill in the kitty to splurge on an attacking midfielder. If we don't, great we have a 20 goal per season championship striker sitting in the wings if we wind up relegated.

With the market the way it is currently, Hogan going for 15 mill for example, 10-12 for Rhodes is probably not a great deal over the odds.

'Sheffield Wednesday with clear run to sign former Bundesliga star'

http://sportwitness.co.uk/sheffield-wednesday-clear-run-sign-former-bundesliga-star/

Former PSV and Schalke 04 winger Jefferson Farfan is still looking for a club to play for. The Peruvian international, who spent the last season at Al-Jazira, has been unattached since November.

The player has been recently linked to many moves as as his agents work on finding a destination. Recent rumours said he could be joining Allianza Lima, his first club as a youngster.

Now Peruvian site Bocon has an article about Farfan’s future, saying reports from the English press claimed he could be off to Sheffield Wednesday.

The most interesting thing in the article is that they say that a return to Peru is completely ruled out by the player. Farfan still has Europe as a priority and wouldn’t consider playing at his home country so soon.

Farfan is said to be currently training in his house in Lima as he gets prepared for his new challenge. Despite the website calling the rumours ‘strong’, they still seem pretty vague to us.

We can’t find English reports on Sheffield Wednesday interest, so this looks to be coming from Peru. Maybe Farfan is in his house training whilst dreaming of a Sheffield Wednesday move.

I can get that from a Boro perspective but the reality is that nobody in the Championship will pay that, and nobody in the Premiership will be interested. Even moneybags Villa are baulking at Boro's asking price. Sadly, Rhodes is yesterday's man now and I think Boro will be struggling to sell at anything like they paid fir him.

Article from Peruvian media here.

According to English media, Jefferson Farfán could arrive at Sheffield Wednesday F.C. Of the English Second Division (Championchip). Former Alianza Lima would already have had contact with the directive of that club and would be negotiating its arrival. Jefferson Farfán has not played for more than two months, after leaving Al Jazira, so he is training on his own.

For now, Jefferson Farfán is in Lima, training on his own, and waiting to close an agreement. The Sheffield Wednesday F.C. Remains a strong rumor. Neither the club nor the player has spoken about it.

Seems like everyone wants to play for Wednesday these days.

Gotta love the bit at the end of the article suggesting he's in his house training (on Fifa17?) whilst dreaming about a Sheffield Wednesday move. lol

This day just keeps getting better and better, Forestieri and Hutchinson deals; Hooper's goalscoring return for the U23's, Winnall potential offer and now Farfan.

Remains a strong random rumour despite neither the club nor player speaking about it?

Has Penguin migrated from his ice cap igloo to become a freelance sports journalist? lol
