Overnight road closures around the site of a new Sainsbury’s store being built in Wadsley Bridge are in place this week until Friday.

The supermarket chain will close Claywheels Lane, Beeley Wood Road and part of Penistone Road northbound from 7pm to 6am.

A diversion will take motorists from Claywheels Lane to Limestone Cottages Lane, Hagg Hill, Midhurst Road and Foxhill Road on to Penistone Road.

Lorries which need access to businesses will be escorted through the area.

A Sainsbury’s spokesman said: “We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your continued patience while we complete the road works. This will be the last time we need to carry out road closures or significant night works outside the site.”

Who the hell authorises this stuff?

The realist - Hagg hill looks to be on the diversion route.

It would appear the diversion route  only affects traffic wanting to get onto Penistone Road from Claywheels lane or Beeley Wood road,

From re-reading it , It would appear the Penistone road southbound will be unaffected , but northbound lanes may be closed
