cbr_bob
If they're getting £3m in today for a fullback, we should be telling them to either stump up the cash for a permanent deal, or feck off. Agreed
bigrbuk
It's not ridiculous if the wages saved allows us to bring a better player in is it. Would you rather we keep him and let him sit on the bench (if he's lucky)
McRightSide
Can't say I'm concerned about him playing against us, but for sure we have a clause in there. How can you say it's insane, this is only part of the solution...
canyoujust
Average at best , hard worker but soone dimensional and would rather see himup front for our rivals than say a wickham type loanee...
boxing_day
Frees up a large wage. He's been playing in the development team, so I can understand the decision as long as we are getting in a good replacement.
i used to be sc_owl
Strange decision. Still think he has something to offer us this season.
Past Member
For the best. Yes they are relegation rivals but I genuinely believe that we are not candidates for that anymore. Also, cog is not exactly a 20 goal striker. It frees us up to bring another player in. I hope your're right, but the table says we are still relegation rivals, at this moment in time. If Barnsley stay up at our expense, we will be a laughing stock. Odd decison.
Guest Big Guns
Would be happier if it was permanent I can't see him been much help in barnsleys relegation battle tbh so not bothered at all
Guest mrbluesky
Sorry bizzare this giving rival relegation team a striker,no matter what you think of ogrady this is not a smart move.
vontemp
Utterly ridiculous. Why not let Semedo go to Peterborough and Maguire to Bristol City? Seeing as we're helping the teams we're competing against to stay up.
tomhollywood
Insane business. Not because we need COG, but we shouldn't be helping our relegation rivals. Ridiculous decision. I can see your train of thought but have to disagree. If it allows us to bring a good striker in that will score goals and push us up the table then it won't matter where he goes. Gude
Surely this means another striker coming in. Maybe even 2 if madine goes.
Euse
We seem to like loaning out to our league rivals ...
bigdan2003
As long as he can be recalled at any time and doesn't play against us. Insane business. It's not really insane business though is it. We're a business and we need to operate, and we need to bring better players in...which means moving players on. If Barnsley were the only ones interested what do you do? It's uncomfortable that he's being loaned to a team in the relegation fight.....but, let's not go into panic mode.
edinburghowl
This. I think COG is under rated here and whilst we need to slash the wage bill I'm not sure helping the six fingereds is the best idea.Under rated? Really? I think he's the most over rated striker we've had since Akpo Sodje. A hard worker and a good frame but he doesn't score many and is seriously lacking in ability. nile
Hopefully he doesn't return with 12 fingers and 12 toes. Good luck cog, take your jabs.
***HIRSTY***
It's a Baldrick type cunning plan, reyt Chris you're going to Barnsley on loan *wink wink
McRightSide
Question: Which would you prefer? 1) Barnsley buy COG for 150k now - he is now their player and can play whenever and against whoever he likes for the rest of the season. 2) Barnsley loan COG for a loan fee + his wages then buy him for £300k in Summer - he can't play against us
Guest Foxhill Owl
If there the only club who want him , the he got to go there. We need better options ,
Past Member
Sorry bizzare this giving rival relegation team a striker,no matter what you think of ogrady this is not a smart move. Exactly, your opinion of COG should be irrelevant, it should be a given that you don't loan players to immediate rivals in your league.
