lt109
was always the Cant but over the last few years I've gone all modern and usually refer to it as The North. Incidently the Millers I know call it the stand where " all your nutters go"

Elvin Parsnip
My dad ( 67 ) calls it the cantilever stand but he also calls hillsbourgh owlerton - he is a Blade but openly admits our ground is far superior to the lane. He even got us season tickets on the South for many years because my brother and I are owls. He used to sneak off and sit on the comfy seats in the directors box every match. He used to just sit there looking posh and no one ever questioned him
Lincs Owl
It was the first cantilever football stand in the UK and one of the first in the world - or so I was always told by the local steel guys.... Scnthhorpe built theirs 4 years before us, in 1957. Edited October 22, 2012 by Lincs Owl
owls66
Cantilever.
nevthelodgemoorowl
Me and dad used to call it the Cantilever, but that was back inthe days when it was the only Cantilever in Europe. Now the Cantilever is just one of many the North will do just fine.

Onedog23
all our stands should be named after someone associated with the club ...north/south /west what flipping genius thought that up. What you mean like Jessica Ennis?

BarnOwl55
Or, as another thread on here is suggesting, perhaps we ought to call it the Eric Taylor stand

Paul Triplo
There used to be a rumour it had 9,999 seats too. I've never been sure if this is true.

dorian gray
Or, as another thread on here is suggesting, perhaps we ought to call it the Eric Taylor stand NO NEVER... i'm not sure who occasionally brings up the eric taylor stand bit every now and again but, he was held in slightly better esteem at the time than a certain later chairman was to be (note the use of the term slightly)... "TAYLOR OUT...TAYLOR OUT...TAYLOR OUT"...as the cushions went on yet again...
