Who had good games today

Lee, looked a light weight at first but grew against a good winger. Made some good tackles/interceptions second half and tried to break forward toeards the end as his confidence grew.

McCabe had a decent first 45

Gardener looked assured but very slow.

Barkley looked good and an excellent pen, but was too deep all game.

Bothroyd first half did get stuck in. Unlucky not to make the most of one Antonio cross. Looks short of match fitness but was playing off no one.

Oh, and Bolton played ok.

You seems to to be a lot like Reading at the moment. when we played them yesterday the team they put out, I thought we might have problems. There's big name class players in their squad. However, tthey lacked cohesion as a team. If it wasn't for their goalie playing a blinder we could have had 6. They look like they may get cut loose at the bottom. Maintaining a good start in the prem is vital. You on ther other hand have more games to rectify this and it can be done with the squad you've got

Lee and Jones didn't really do much wrong.

Antonio looked dangerous for first half hour and remaind our main outlet throughout.

Gardner looked solid until second goal. Then nerves seemed to kick in.

Don't remember McCabe or Barkley doing much wrong, but considering how many passes went astray in the middle of the park, I might be wrong on that.

Rodri had an up and down game, but showed some good touches and had them worried on several occasions.

Kevin Davies won a lot of headers.

Chris Eagles was all over the friggin place.

Zat Knight was like a man mountain.

Other than them wasn't really impressed.

I thought Jay Spearing was a class apart today - sat deep, kept it simple and always seemed to make so much time for himself.

Fair point. Main problem yesterday was that we didn't gel. Our passing game and movement was nowhere near the standard set at Birmingham.

This despite the fact that imo we had the most technically gifted midfield/ attack that we've put on the pitch in the last 15 years.

Antonio

Barkley

McCabe

Lee

Gardner

Jones

We weren't even bad

It was a fairly good performance where two stupid errors cost us

Totally agree. If that game hadn't have been part of our current losing streak, we would've been lamenting our bad luck and a stupid decision from an experienced player rather than pointing fingers at all and sundry.

Well the last time I said this I got accused by some as "fishing" I'm not. This is what I call "The Tony Mowbray style of football management" Dear old Judas despite being defender, could not set up a back 4 to save his life. Basically we had an awesome midfield (Brunt, Koumas, Greening) in partnership with an awesome strikeforce (SKP, Diomansy Kamara) and a poor defence. We muller or get mullered. It was usually us doing the mullering though

What I said to my mate yesterday was what worries is me is the amount of time and space Bolton were given on the ball, Barkley and McCabe played far too deep. This was the same against udders. We don't get in the opposition face anymore, rough them up etc. We lost most 50/50s, and when we were in possession, no movement at all, one incident I remember yday, Rodri had the ball, was looking to pass, not one player made any movement, so he had to take 3 Bolton players on and end up back near Kirklands penalty area just to keep the ball. I honestly thought yday was dire, we looked like a relagation side, no team spirit.Pecnik and Jones to name a couple bottled so many challenges. The only positive I thought Kieran Lee played well.
