Just look at thread the other day from Blades Mad about the Blades dream team. James Beattie is regarded as one of United's best ever strikers by many, many Blades fans. A Lane Legend. One of the best players to ever pull on a Blades shirt. And here he is, sat on his arse doing nothing without a contract, well into his four-figures for the amount of days without scoring a professional goal, just released by the club he's regarded as a hero at having scored 0 goals for them in League One and draining their resources for a few months, while subject to joke threads where everybody mocks and laughs on a rival teams forum about a non-existent trial. Would Hirst ever get treated like that? We are so far beyond Lane Legends like James Beattie now it's not even compareable. Why would we sign one of the greatest Blades who ever lived when we can bring in youngsters from Barcelona, or keep faith in our renewed talisman we signed from Rochdale? A little light fitness work is all that is happening. He (I hope) doesnt evenm fit into the catergory DJ is looking at.
