They were playing Chesterfield. You've said it yourself, nobody expected them to lose.

Did they finish Colchester off?

Did they finish Tranmere off?

Did they finish Oldham off?

Did they finish Walsall off?

No.

Just because they've beaten a side, who've had 3 days off in comparison to their 8 days off, who are also bottom of the league, AT HOME, doesn't mean we need to start panicking and talking play offs again.

We'll be second again by 15:00 saturday and then the pressures back on them to go and get 3 points at Hartlepool. Much tougher than last night.

Keep the faith. Stop having a flounce everytime the wind changes direction.

In the games the games you mentioned did they have their most important player?

They remain favourites for the automatic spot.

it's not negative to see it like that, it is just being realistic.

Even if we win every single game (a big IF), they would have to lose 1 and as things stand, I cannot see who they are going to lose to.

Of course United are favourites, they are 2 points clear with a superior goal difference effectively making it 3 points and they have the slightly easier of the run in. I don't think anyone has said any different. That is why ALL the pressure is on United - it is their's to throw away (they've thrown away bigger leads this season - and over the course of my lifetime!).

Can't see United losing? They have a few tough away trips for a start. Did you see them losing at Oldham in the manner they did (2-0 up)? Football is so unpredictable it is brilliant.

Wednesday were dead and buried a month ago, now we are well and truly alive in the race for 2nd place. Sh*t, Charlton had the title wrapped up in January and now their lead is just 2 games!

BE POSITIVE FFS! lol

He was in there team when they lost against Stevenage, Wycombe, Carlisle, Huddersfield, Charlton and Birmingham. And drew against leyton orient, us, bradford.

They are unbeatable with him in the team.

You can't see them losing again this season? Why aren't they running away with the league then?

Of course they're favourites, as it stands they're 2 point clear with better goal difference.

That can change in the space of 5 hours Saturday.

We were out of it, dead and buried according to some on here. Now it's within 2 points, I would be happy if it went into last couple of games with it at that.

It's good that we're both keeping the pressure on Charlton as well. They really should have had it sewn up by now.

Going back to 2009/10 do we remember Leeds having an 8 point lead at the top of League One at the midway point of the season? Next up they went to Old Trafford and pulled off a shock in the FA Cup, but that was the start of a horrendous stretch where their league record was P16 W3 D6 L7 GD-6 PTS15 and they dropped three places. Unfortunately they recovered for the last few games and got promoted, but it shows that anything is possible.

Of course, the odds are slightly against us finishing second as three other teams are arguably fractionally better placed (assumes Huddersfield win their game in hand which is obviously not certain either) but let's not throw the towel in just yet.

Don't know how you are so confident sheff utd have players scoring all over the pitch if evans didn't play hoskins or beattie or o'halloran would get the goals instead.

We only have our selves to blame for wasting points against rochdale and walsall.

Our sticky games carlisle , Hudders , Brentford stopping us going up

Beattie last scored 2 and a half years and 50 games ago.

Hoskins has scored once since his loan move.

O'Halloran is an unproven kid who has done nothing to suggest he'll step in and replace Evans' goals.

Every club can look back at 'what could have been's' - United have chucked away just as many points as we have, Huddersfield even more so!

They are a different team with the lad McD in midfield and create lots of chances.

I'm just making the point that one of the other lads would score goals as well.

If United didn't have Evans then they would be in trouble, just as Hudds would be without Rhodes. Will be interesting to see how they both do if/when they leave.

We don't have that stand out edge up front but we have goals coming from defence, midfield and attack which is just as useful.

Agreed, MacDonald is pulling the strings for them. Same could be said for us about Antonio.

To be honest, the quality of goals Evans' has been scoring, I very much doubt any of their other strikers could bang them in.

Only two points/one game mate, keep the faith!

6 points between now and saturday week will put Blades under pressure they will not be able to cope with. We allready know they have a paper thin squad and I for one think this will do for them because as they have to go for it by putting in the effort the likelyhood of their getting injuries increases 5 fold.

Believe UTO WTID !

Even with McDonald pulling the strings they are still vulnerable, as proven by past results. They haven't strengthened and have a relatively thin squad.

On the other hand we've bought in a couple of players who could make all the difference to our performances, so that we finish the stronger of the two teams. That is all we need.

Its a big advantage for them us have 4 early kick offs

The pressure is on us to win them as we have to presume they will win.

If we don't win they can play relaxed knowing we won't go above them in the table

Plus the fact that our fixtures are harder than our rivals H Preston (Mellor etc wanting to put one over on us) FL1 A Huddersfield (desperate to beat us) FL1 H Oldham (very hard to beat at the moment as the blunts found out FL1 A Colchester (on very good form and a v good home record) FL1 H Carlisle (top of the form league) FL1 A Brentford (on top form out classed preston at deepdale on tues) FL1 H Wycombe (last day survival scrap here for them) FL1
