M Royds
It's a shame we never used them again but if they are unsafe they are unsafe. Were they not used for Euro 96 and the student games?
Guest Johnbloodaxe
What about the areas totally rusted away leaving gaping holes? Filler? Then paint...
theowlsman
It's not the Poles that are the problem, it's the non-fire retardant flags that currently aren't on them. Should they be erected, and catch alight atop their flagpoles, from a passing ember at 30 feet, and start to smoulder, and if the wind was blowing from the NNW, and if the smoke was inhaled by a Scotsman with a dicky ticker for 35 mins solid, it could make him cough. Not any old cough mind, but a really bad cough.

ReadingOwl
Didn't know we owned them, I thought the council owned them That makes sense to me too. I cannot see why they are the Clubs responsibility. They are part of the adopted highway. Shame though. I think they should be kept.
Weshallovercome
It is a shame.......they did look great with the flags on. Maybe we can get some more erected when England 'win' the 2058 World Cup bid?
cardiffowl06
Its a shame they are going. Looking at the picture of them though, the state of the road around Hillsborough is shocking. Needs some TLC.
