fife_owl
A question for those of you lucky enough to go to games every week. Kieren Lee getting fit again has seen Giles Coke drop to the bench. So far, Lee replacing Coke in the middle - if anything - has coincided with a dip in results. Are we missing Coke? I know he doesn't pull off the sensational very often, but when I've seen him he has always made the midfield tick - always in space to receive the ball and move it around. Any merit in the suggestion that we are missing Coke?
lanzaroteowl
We could do with the fizz and a couple of lines for the forwards might help
SHUowl
It did seem harsh to drop him but Lee was better than he's shown before the injury, part of a 3 man centre midfield to push mags and mags (although I'd prefer Drenthe) up the pitch. Guest IN MILAN WE RUST
Nope not good enough. Sadly true! another half decent league 1 player who shouldnt be anywhere near a wednesday 1st team, pains me to say but we have quite alot of very average players who the fans rate so that goes to show how much of rut we are in. Still been a good servant and always gives his best tho
cowl
We've got that many central midfielders that would seem to be better as part of a central 3 that perhaps we ought to just start playing that way.
York_Owl
I think with the players we have we are better suited playing three in central midfield. Coke or Maghoma would be ideally suited to playing the advanced role of the three.
SHUowl
Nope not good enough. I hear this phrase a lot though. Good enough for what exactly? He played better than Lee is currently playing, so I think it's fair to bring him on, otherwise it's like giving players like Lee and May God status who can't be dropped. Semedo's ferret
Coke was our most consistent player not so long ago. His energy is massively missed. We are trying to accommodate 2 center fwds when we should revert back to a good 3 man mix in midfield, with trusted wide men. And one fwd, Nuhiu or May. Guest owl from retford
Coke started the season very well but lost consistency one good game out of every 5 is not good enough but as somebody has already mentioned he was playing better than Lee currently is
Guest wilyfox
Fed up with playing hide n seek with Coke. Clearly has the necessary attributes, but doesn't show nearly often enough.
tomhollywood
I'd like to try this. Nuhiu could bring the three behind him into play and we would pack the midfield as well. Palmer----Lees-----Loovens-----Mattock -------Lee-----------Coke--------- -Maguire------Maghoma-----Drenthe----- ------------Nuhiu----------------------
Gparrish
He's goes missing far too often and doesn't take responsibility enough. The Forest game was the first time in ages that I could remember him taking the responsibility that we needed him take on a regular basis.

dannyhowsonswfc
I think he's better against counter attacking teams (such as Watford) who move the ball quickly. Semedo particularly can't keep up with opposing midfielders.
oldishowl
Trouble is we have no idea which Coke will turn up. Early season he had some cracking games . He is very good in keeping possession of the ball and was instrumental in helping us look a better team capable of keeping the ball. Trouble is he then had a few games where he just did not turn up, literally hardly touched the ball and Gray replaced him in the starting 11. When Coke plays well he is very good at keeping the ball. We have missed this. Lee has not yet got up speed after his injury and hence we are not playing as much football as we did early season. Coke has now joined Gray's list of "cannot be relied upon to put in a performance" . A manager cannot afford these type of players in the team, but as I have said we have not replaced him effectively in the team yet.
wiggy
I think a more important question is why after 3 years of it being glaringly obvious that we aren't good enough in central midfield, are we still having to make do with a league one partnership of coke and semedo, because our other options are injury prone. Lee A
Come up with any combinations we want, but for one reason or another ( Semedo's lack of ability, Hutch being a crock etc ) the answer to our midfield problems is not currently at the club Urgently need a new approach in there
gurujuan
In that first game at Brighton, our midfield looked as good as any in the division. Coke, Hutchinson and Lee looked well balanced and controlled play from start to finish. Still think those three represent our strongest midfield and I think we might have avoided this slump had we persisted with a central three. northeastowl
If he played like he did at Boro away he would be the first name on the team sheet. Unfortunately he can't seem to manage or be bothered to put that display in regularly.
