Argue against THIS

Recommended Posts

The reason teams have bowed to the big clubs is because they bring in the money. If they go, so does all the broadcasting revenue from across the world.

If the super six were able to unilaterally breakaway, English football would have a massive financial crisis. The drop in TV revenue which funds clubs wage bills at the top two levels at least now would be devastating, you'd see a few clubs go to the wall.

No one really wants to admit it, but the current football system in this country relies on the big six. And to prove that, the worst watched Premier League season  (according to Price of Football anyway) in recent history, was Leicester City's win.

People become billionaires out of football, you're asking them to give that up. We'd need a new league entirely, with no incentive for players to come to it.

Arsenal have the most expensive season tickets in English football but guess what they currently have a waiting list of just under 20,000 and they even charge £100 for that honour, which is offset against the price of a ST if and when they manager to get one.

What do you do when 1000's of people are desperate to see Arsenal and willing to pay almost anything? If prices were kept low, they would have possibly 40,000 wanting season tickets

Also the ticket touts would have a field day. At least Arsenal's way keeps the money inside the club, to pay awards players, instead of going into the pocket of touts.

That's the reality, with out the big 6 then the PL will have the finances and standard of the current day Championship.

The Championship would drop down to league 1 standard.

Do people want to watch lower quality football? Also there would be little media attention.

Basically English football would die a slow death, it would gradually dwindle over the decades to be like playing in the non league.

For 100's of millions around the world the only football that exists would be the Euro super league.

Problem is the IFR will scupper this plan. I've long thought the EFL should close off promotion and offer any PL club that wants to re-join a

place in a 4 division set-up and run as it did before the PL breakaway. I think the EFL really hold the cards because the PL will wither

and die without the relegation battles making it interesting.

Chjamionship clubs wouldn't go for it. They all live in the hope that one day they will get lucky and get promoted.

What you're saying isn't reality

We've not had a huge uplift in football entertainment since the big money arrived

It's the opposite

If people really were willing to accept lower quality of football for cheaper prices and a more honest experience, 1,000s would be going to their local non-league side.

But for the majority of non-league sides, that isn't happening. So obviously, people aren't willing to accept that.

That would bankrupt most of football, the premier league is the highest paid watched, subscribed league in the world the funding that gets is ridiculous

to take that away your left with a massive financial deficit

what needs to happen is a tightening of ownership and better money distributed and better handling on finances

What an absolutefuckincesspit the English game has become since the inception of Sky & the EPL!

It's not even one of those 'things were better in my day' things that old guys trot out - it's actually true

There's been so many changes and tweaks that have just made it worse and worse

The addition of the big money has done nothing but given players, agents and third parties obscene amounts of money for doing exactly the same thing that they were doing before the big money arrived, with the fans having to shell out the money to pay for it

It's just a right mess

F.A Cup replays the following week with kick off at 7.30 or 7.45.

Wednesday to play in blue and white striped shirts ,black shorts and blue and white hooped socks.

Just reminiscing I guess.

Not if player wages were made realistic

Against rest of all other divisions? Its too competitive now, world football would have to follow suit otherwise anyone half decent would end up in

Spain, Italy, France, China, Saudi Arabia

And having a big group of teams at the top that no one else seems to be able to topple is not a uniquely English thing.

Spain has Barcelona and Real.
France has PSG.

Germany has Bayern.

Portugal has Benfica, Porto and Sporting.
Italy has Juventus, Inter and AC.
Turkey has Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas.
Greece has Olympiakos, Panathinaikos and AEK.

All these teams wield major influence (and use it and abuse it) in their leagues because if they were to upsticks to a potential ESL, the money would flee their leagues. There's a reason that even the smart owners end up giving into these teams.
