If I had a thousand guesses I don't think I'd have gone for Roxy Music as one of his favourites; in fact, I'd have needed three goes if it was true or false.

That said, I'd like the interviewer to go back and establish which period of Roxy Music he means, thank you.

From school I think - he used to go red a lot so got named after Watney's Red Barrel.

Played alongside him for a couple of games at spalding not that long before he came to us. I was pushing my level he was head and shoulders above me and everyone else on the pitch. Mad Mick Hennigan was our manager Howard Wilkinson was at Boston both of whom obviously ended up at Hillsborough as well.

I think we were top of the league, we played them at their ground, he played for one of the Handsworth teams, I can't remember if it was a league game or in the cup

They had 4 chances in the game and took all 4, all scored by Shutt

 

I remember after the game we were all wondering how we had lost, but we had been wasteful, it was one of those games where nothing went in

 

A few weeks later someone said 'remember that kid that scored all 4 against us, he's just signed for Wednesday

I played against him when he played for Handsworth. He scored a hat trick as I recall and in the second half their keeper got injured and I'm sure it was him who went in goal - he saved a penalty but we won 5 - 3.

About a year or so later he was in Wednesday's first team.

I remember one exasperated comment I heard on the Kop that was, shall we say, less complementary, following a failed attempt on target:

'Sh*t shot Shutt!!'.

 

I found it funny anyway, and it's something I've always remembered.
