Nobody thought that The only people who think really that are: 1) John Pearson 2) People who heard John Pearson say it 1 Owlstalk Shop

But when he punches it he has a Preston player right in front of him so he is set to make a save not a catch. A punch is a reasonable thing to do. The return shot is one of those things. Dawson would have done the same. We have learned nothing. If he’d have gone to catch it at that point he’d have dropped it over their players head as was never in the right position Unfortunate he’s banged it in the corner really

cowl
Westwood definitely slipped in the lead up, and no doubt that affected how he dealt the high ball it was still a bad error to make. The majority of the time he'd have just about got away with it, but still, it's his error. Slipping, anyway, is a particular bug-bear of mine. Annoys me far more than it probably should. Guest Bulgaria
As much a Westwood isn't top of my likeable characters, that defeat wasn't down to him. It's down to our inability to create chances, pass correctly once we pass the halfway line and our numbskull players who haven't got the brains to run into space. McRightSide
He didn’t slip He was going to come for it, changed his mind, didn’t sort his feet and weight distribution out and was left with the safest option being a less than ideal punch. The mistake was in the footwork, not the punch per se

He shoved the ball to their striker on the penalty spot (you know... like Dawson got crucified for doing) then flopped for a dive as the (inevitable) goal went in Owlstalk Shop

Im saying the position he'd got himself into, has lead to the decision to do a half arrsed punch into the middle rather than try and catch it. Of course he should be doing better than that.

Surely we shouldn't be talking about 3 games over a year ago, the last times he played? He deserved to get dropped when he did, but that shouldn't factor into anything NOW. He's made a mistake today. If in 5 games hes made more blunders, then thats when stats like that should matter.
theowlsman
I’m a Westwood fan. It WAS an awful, pathetic, punch out. Still rather have him in net though. Every time.

Why hasn't that applied to Wildsmith who has just kept 2 clean sheets on the trot and not put a foot wrong? Owlstalk Shop
