Could this affect the Championship too?

Professional Footballers' Association chief executive Gordon Taylor says halves of less than 45 minutes are being considered when football resumes.

Discussions about the Premier League's return are ongoing but Taylor says players are "concerned" about safety.

"They are not stupid," he told BBC Radio 4's Today programme. "They would have to be satisfied that it is safe to return, and it is their choice."

The Premier League is hopeful of a potential 8 June resumption.

"We don't know the future but we do know is what propositions have been put, what ideas have been put, the possibility of having more substitutes, games possibly not being the full 45 minutes each way with talks of neutral stadiums," said Taylor.

"Ideally, you want to keep the integrity of the competition, and of course, that was about playing home and away and having the same squad of players as before it was suspended.

"So there's lots of points to be made, but above all, can the seasons be completed and can they be completed safely?"

Taylor's comments follow a number of Premier League club doctors raising a range of concerns with league bosses over plans to resume the season.

They should just do the half time game we used to have, where you kicked at an empty net from various distances, to decide games.  You'd only need one player from each team and you could have the season wrapped up in an afternoon.

But you have to do it in your normal shoes to add interest.

The desperation of the football authorities holds no bounds it seems.

They don't care about fans, we know that.

Now it seems they don't care about the rules of the game, just changing them to suit.

Nor do they care, it seems about Players, Coaches, Ground staff, Coach drivers, Doctors, Medics, Physios,

St John's ambulance, TV cameramen, Radio & press reporters, Referees, Linesmen, 4th Officials, Ballboys etc etc

Totally agree, there’s a massive kerfuffle because of all the money involved and players and agents will be starting to air their views now. I think there will be more mad cap ideas before it’s gets resolved 😂

If 37 games are played over 90 minutes. Doesn’t sit with me that the remaining 9

games could be played over 70/80 minutes. If we even lose 10 minutes of every match we are taking away a full 90 minutes from the season.

Play the games when safe to do so. The desperation at the top to play ASAP highlights that money is the only motivation behind these absurd ideas.

I keep reading this one and it baffles me.  Why do you need ball boys.  Just have a bag of balls on the touchline and lob a new one on if it goes in the stand.  Leave the nets up either side of the goal and you'll catch a fair few.  Then just send the kit man round to collect them up.  Christ if football clubs can't manage without ballboys we might as well just give up now.

If we'd lost the last10 minutes of every game this season we'd be laughing so it's a yes from me.

Do think they should just end the season, just too much has changed.

They talk about integrity well look like it is all about the money. Integrity would be having the balls to say this is bigger than a club getting promoted. It's about the country as a whole.

With the PFA involved can just see that they will advise their members not to go to work if they feel unsafe or if the clubs cannot maintain social distance whilst at work. EFL could not argue with this at all as following the rules unless the rules are changed for all going to work.

I left kit man off...

Replace ballboys with kit man...

Who also needs to be fitter than a butchers dog by the sounds of it

just play a penalty competition... no real fitness required, social distancing sorted, FULL squad (lets say 20 per club) to take penalties, all to take place at ST..Georges training ground on the basis of the remaining fixtures, all over and done with in a week, all televised,no hangers on or fans in attendance  - job sorted!

You could make that even safer by having teams not actually in the same ground

Just send a goalkeeper along to the opponents ground, and have different penalty takers come in each day to take theirs
