Why is this still a thread? Debating/slagging off George Hirst makes us look so petty and tinpot, move the thread to other football, close it and let's all move forward into the exciting new season ahead.

Multi camera iFollow for every game, that's all that matters!!!!

Why should the club change their wage policy for youth players on someone who was/is totally unproven, they gave him the option of a contract and a loan which he refused. How do you know others would pay him more?

He wasn't a first team player and now perhaps never will be.

Because we expected to earn at least 2m for him (offer from Leicester that we turned down).

Again, we lost at least 2m because we handled whole situation so poorly.

Wonder how much he earns now?

Considering folk seem certain our offer was well below what he knew he could earn elsewhere.

Some waffles and as much frites as he can eat

Is this £2m genuine? And if so, how was it structured - is it possible it could have been £250k up front and £1.75m if he wins the World Cup for England and Champions League for Leicester, for example? Then if that was the case, do you still believe our club handled the situation badly, and do you still think we should have broken our wage structure to keep him?

And perhaps they offered us 2m in rubber stamps...

How the hell, would we broke wage structure to keep him ?

By offering him more then we offered to other U-23 players ?! Nonsense...

Did we broke our wage structure to offer Emanuelson God only knows how much to play U-23 football, and leaves for free ?

We never received a £2m offer form anybody, it was a total myth.

Of course it isn't nonsense, break the structure for a one player and you get the lads that have actually made first team appearances banging down the door, thats why these structures are in place.

So, you don't know if the £2m is genuine, but use it to bash the club anyway?

Wasn't Emanuelson signed for the first team, a player of Champions League experience, and former clubs include Ajax, Milan, and Roma? But yeah, let's compare that to a kid with one senior appearance ever (at that time) - in the early rounds of the League Cup against lower league opposition...

It is nonsense.

You have one player wanted by Premiership team, ready to pay good money for, and most others that we are struggling to get out on loan.

What reason we gave to George Hirst to sign new deal with the club ?

If we do the same again, we will lose any good talent that comes through and get interest from othrr clubs.

Again, no substance to this whatsoever.

2m was offer was reported by the club.

Emanuelson was unfit to play football, and it was never likely he will help us on the pitch or earn us money in the future. It is not important where he played before.

Can't believe there is a single Wednesday fan who would defend signing of Emanuelson ?!

Both deals were catastrophic for Sheffield Wednesday.

Yep, nevermind official statement from the club that we turned 2m from Leicester down as we wanted more.

There was never any official statement from the club, we had a couple of derisory offers and no more, your argument is built on sand.

This link suggests the offer was £2m + add ons.

https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/leicester-city/transfer-talk/news/leicester-fail-with-new-bid-for-hirst_306124.html

Other links suggest £2m with no structure to the deal. On sky and other organisation that the offer was £2m.
