True.

I noticed today that this year, for the first time for many many years, we are not even in the top 7 for average attendances in the Championship.

It doesn't appear just because we are 15th as 3 out of the top 7 are around or below us.

We are actually 7th this season.

Never should Sheffield Wednesday be out of the top 5 for attendances in the second division.

Questions need to be asked as to why we aren’t at least the third best supported club after Villa obviously and then possibly Leeds.

90% of this has to be on the fans, even the god damn pigs have shown us up this season. It better not happen again.

More concerning is why the blunts have a better average attendance , is it because of pricing maybe ?

They have well and truly embarrassed us this season. After all the tubthumping about how much bigger and better supported we are as a club and they end up with higher attendances than us.

Shameful. This is not the Sheffield Wednesday I grew up with, we must not hand them the city.

When other clubs seem to be able to sit opposing supporters virtually next to each other, I feel embarrassed that the lower Leppings Lane end is virtually always completely empty, plus the bit in the corner, and now also the the first few vertical rows in the North.  Looks awful on TV.

Who is at risk of what?  Are we still in thrall to South Yorkshire Police for the events of 29 years ago?  When will the club move forwards and start some meaningful re-siting - opposition supporters in the lower Leppings any the very least, with ours up above?  Will make for better atmosphere, and look better to the outside world.

No doubt all been said before, but why not some action this close-season.

i agree for the reason of noise alone that away supporters should be in the lower LL end, but if our support was to be relocated into the upper wouldn't the areas they had moved from NOT 'look better to the outside world'

I think 90% of it is because weve been so shiite and its about a million quid to go and watch it!

The point about filling the lower West Stand for TV is actually an important one from a publicity/marketing perspective

If the club are trying to promote what a great day out football is, how exciting it can be, how entertaining and popular it is then it all gets undermined by a thirty second clip on TV of completely empty seats.

For example - The music industry knows this as it's known that people are attracted to things that look like it's really popular and exciting. You'd not see a gig promoted by a photo of an empty venue with the band on stage.

Example below. The shot of Wembley would excite nobody really but the bottom shot shows a packed house and it immediately seems way more attractive even though there might be less people in the bottom shot than the top one.

Same applies to how Football should be marketed.

Anything being promoted or publicised would never use empty seats to promote how great something is as the perception from the viewer would be 'eh? there's loads of empty seats'

For those who go regardless it's irrelevant

To those who go to most games it's pretty irrelevant

But to those who only go every now and again it actually sells the game and going to games as much less of a place to be.

Basics really

it could have to do with the fact that the pigs were going for it, limited ability yes, but actually putting themselves about, whilst we have been strolling up to the halfway line for the first 45 minutes of home games for quite some time, it's hardly been 'exciting', add that to seat costs at s6 compared to s2, and...
