I'd like him here. Gets bad press because of that infamous headline and disaster for England. Example of media influencing the easily lead.

Not sure those who are turning their nose up at this expected to get.

I'd have Megson back before McClaren, the only person I'd put him before is Bryan Robson.

I definitely wouldn't like him here BUT...if he does come to us I'll give him the chance & support I'd give anyone else, maybe he'd be a good fit, who knows, we can only hope.

I was at Wembley the night of Wally with the brolly. Dreadful.

Surely not.

Bullen needs to be given a chance.

Oh dear

Would be better all round to give Bullen that gig.

No, I'd rather have a new regime in and sussing out the team as it stands.  Well before the summer buy in/clear out.

What the hell is having Bullen for the rest of the year going to do for us long-term?

Not good enough for England .... Certainly not good enough for us !!!

bout time he packed in along with quite a few other managers who are just doing the rounds and taking the bucks !!

cant see why some on here have an issue with aiming a lot higher than some of the dross being bandied about ...

Yeah it’s alright aiming higher but it’s about been realistic aswell at the same time , all this Fonseca talk is ludicrous and a waste of time , champions league to championship isn’t gunna happen

you hear people banging names about like Ronald Koeman , ridiculous

Your right about the Fonseca type of manager Royal D.... That's just not going to happen imo. Just think we need to aim higher than the likes of Hurst, Heck etc

been there too many times in the past and it just doesn't work

Yep, we need something different , we need someone who’s a character aswell and can lead the club back to the premier league

i wouldn’t like to be making this appointment one little bit, it’s a HUGE call for the chairman, i haven’t seen a name mentioned yet who I think is both realistic and could do a job

Totally agree with you.... Remember when CC was appointed, most people were a tad underwhelmed if the truth be known. Went quite well and then the wheels fell off as it does to most football clubs at some point.

massive call for a chairman who imo still doesn't get the game and is reliant on advisers ( I know he's not the only one ).... Tough one to call the next appointment !!!

He’s spent years at Man Utd-Sir Alex rated him. He managed England. He knows his football. He’d make an excellent D.O.F im sure. If he’s been spoken to about management, what harm is there in him taking the job til the end of the season with a huge bonus for promotion? We are cast adrift at the minute, nothing at all to lose.

Not disagreeing with where he's been Tudders..... Do you really think he'd come until the end of the season , gain promotion and then we get rid !!

personally I think we need to put this idea of getting a manager in until the end of the season to bed. Who do we think we're going to get of any worth to agree to those terms ?

Apologies I didn’t make myself clear. Id offer him the job until the end of the season with a big bonus if he got promotion and obviously he would be given a year in the PL. Let both parties review how things have gone at the end of the season. We could pay him a good wage to agree to the above to make it worth his while. If he’s a disaster then we’ve not got tied into a long expensive contract and the compensation he’d be due. If it works well and we narrowly miss the play offs then I can’t see why both parties wouldn’t want to renew the contract for a season in the championship.

Anyone else more than slightly concerned that Steve McLaren heard the job specifics and very evidentally said "no thank you?"

A very unemployed Steve McLaren, who has shown little propensity to be picky with his jobs in the past?

Did he deffo say no to us?

I guess it's all about opinions and points of view Tudders... Unfortunately I think we'll have to agree to disagree mate.

For me he's one of those managers that's just gone stale and just hasn't got enough spark or enough character for what we need right now. ( imo)

personally think we are going to struggle to get to the play offs and for that reason alone I would prefer to appoint a manager on a permanent deal as opposed to an end of the season deal .... Let the new manager start building straight away rather than having to start again in the summer

There might be a game play here.

:Fans react negatively to rumours of McLaren

:club leak fake news that he's turned us down

:club announce the deal & fans are now pleased

Common trick in sales. Pretend the product isn't available; & the desire for it increases.
