Past Member
These days we all watch too much of Neville & Carragher doing in depth analysis & have delusions with regard to our own level of football expertise I get that Link up play is important, as, is holding the ball up, creating space etc etc, but you can't argue that goals win matches. That has never changed. CC may be restricted by FFs injury or an inclination to keep with a winning team. But here's why Forestieri & Fletcher must start in the play offs (win scored in). CTL
But Hooper has been injured for most of the season and we only signed Rhodes in January?
Blue and white
We don't score unless Rhodes is on the pitch. Rhodes and Hooper all day for me.

Of course this chart is basic, it meant to be. Bur FFS if this chart is unfair on anyone, it's Rhodes, as you mention. Hooper has played a decent amount of game, but yes missed the middle third. Lee A
FF looked buggered when we chucked him on against Derby If he's carrying any kind of knock he shouldn't play, get him in the ice bath for a fortnight.
Holmowl
1. Don't change the system which has won six in six. 2. Don't change a system which has scored 10 in 6, compared to the one per game we have scored when Nando plays up top. 3. Fletch and Nando was tried. Fletch got one goal during that time. He has 4 in 5 playing with a proper strike partner. We waited nearly 40 matches to "click". We have finally clicked yet some want to change system and personnel to one which previously failed. Bluesteel
Hooper and Rhodes are two of the most prolific championship strikers in recent years.

Mr Farrell
Chart is a tad flawed due to our wide variety of starting strikers this season. Get the Op's observations though.

Go and take a look at how many goals the partnership of Fletcher and Nando scored as a striking duo. Then see if you still want to give it another experiment in the Play Off semi-final. owls-swfc
Only change I'd make is hutch for Loovens at CB for match fitness. Hutch is a majestic CB and less likely to end up being sent off than playing in midfield. We don't want to be down to 10 men if he plays in subsequent play-off games if not match fit - but want him to play. Quadzilla
Forestieri is injured. He can only play 30mins max without his knee falling off.

The team doing well (mainly Fletchers goals) without him, prevents CC from having to rush FF back. But FF & CC will be keen to have him back. I just don't know though. We have never scored a goal when Rhodes has not been on the pitch. Therefore, we cannot say that any combination that doesn't involve Rhodes has had any success whatsoever. In fact every strike partnership that doesn't involve Rhodes has completely failed! Jeez, not to score one goal! The team in general seems to play better with Hooper. So for me, when we get to the play offs I would still like to see Hooper and Rhodes up top with FF on the left. This combo has never been tried so we can't say it will work. Its just all the stats seem to point to the fact that this has to be our best lineup.
