Newcastle vs SYP re allocation

Any idea why the Syp/sag morons have gone even more mental than usual over the last year or so? Have they got worried seeing us quite close to the PL and thought they'd better get their restrictions in early so they won't have to manage 35k+ crowds every week if/when we get there?

Just about sums the Sheffield authorities up though. We've got a club with a new, ambitious investor but instead of helping us succeed and flourish they start piling on the restrictions to make life as difficult as possible. Meanwhile, the wee wee throwers and firework launchers from S2 can use their stadium with nothing like our problems.

Do you think it has anything to do with the almost certainty that when the IPCC have completed their investigation into the Hillsborough Disaster, the lawyers representing the bereaved families are going to throw in the biggest compensation claim in the history of the British legal system aimed at SYP? Everyone connected with ground safety is going to be scared sh1tless of even making the most minor mistake or misjudgment because it will be magnified beyond any recognizable proportions. God help them if someone was to be hurt in a safety related incident.

when we get to the PL its going to be ridiculous

I dont understand why they have become so cautious all of a sudden. Not so long ago that away teams had top and bottom areas of the LL end

This season. Villa for one. Leeds too as I recall. The difference on this occasion is that it's a late KO hence Geordies drinking around Sheffield all day. I suspect that this will be used as justification. I work with a Newcastle fan and from why he tells me there will be a lot trying to get in home areas.

Fair point but safety has improved since the disaster, the biggest cause was the 7ft high metal fencing which is thankfully long gone. People still sail between the uk and mainland Europe every single day but having learnt lessons the thick f**kers now close the doors before setting off. Disasters have and always will happen but if you take out as many of the likely causes they can usually be prevented.  The stadium needs sorting in readiness for promotion, all involved need to get round the table and come up with a sensible way forward.  The current restrictions are an embarrassment given how little segregation you see at other stadiums around the country week in week out.

I am afraid though, that is the stigma that Hillsborough Stadium now has attached to it. We will just have to live with it.

The stadium was used to full capacity in the 90's so there really is no justification to restrict capacity by so much, if every police was doing the same fair enough but they're not.

I understand fully what you are saying but I can also feel a little bit of sympathy for anyone that has any responsibility for safety matters at Hillsborough. Being in a job that involves safety inspection myself, I know that safety inspectors are the biggest bunch of jobsworths on the planet because if anything goes wrong, it is their head on the block. So all the time they air on the side of caution. The issue is that if another safety issue was to happen at Hillsborough, although it may be the sort of thing that could happen at any venue in the world, because it is Hillsborough, it is going to to be blown out of all proportion. Lawyers will pick up on it in litigation proceedings as the kind of thing that still happens at Hillsborough. Nowt can change that mindset now. That is the stigma.

SYP are embarrassing. In addition to these pathetic segregation rules, they also seem unable to police a derby match at 3:00pm on a Saturday (i.e. Barnsley away). About as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

tbf we have Scummy Leeds to thank for that.

Have the club employed an independent expert to determine the safe capacity along with a plan for safe access and egress of all fans? Or do we just take it on the chin season after season. There needs to be reasoning for the restrictions and an action plan to remedy it. It may be that the actions required are currently not economically viable.

Why do u care about loss of income it's not ur bank account

the ticket prices are ridiculous but I like the idea of restricting their allocation just like we did v Brighton.

With FFP the income from ticket sales is massively important.

It doesn't look like we have restricted their sales to put ours on the Lower Lep, it looks like they'll want the Lower empty

It's Sheffield Wednesday and it's previous custodians fault that our ground is outdated not fit for modern day football, no one else's, yeah we may have romance, history and tradition compared to some of the so called atmosphere free flat packs, but again let's not kid ourselves our atmosphere at Hillsborough is nothing short of sad and tired, we have a half hearted couple of seconds at "High Ho Sheffield Wednesday" then that's pretty much it apart from the groans and pissheads, the whole match-day experience is overpriced and outdated, on of the main reasons i stopped going as much, it bores the crap outta me! I used to love going, it used to make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up every time and I've sadly seen some crap football from us over the years.

Modern day football is a business and needs to be run as one, Mr C is a very successful businessman and i trust he will make the right decisions in time to benefit "the business". Hillsborough in its present form must be haemorrhaging money and is less attractive for income outside of match day in it's location rather than somewhere like Meadowhall etc....

All depends on how long Mr C is planning to hang around i suppose and our success. Some unpopular tough decisions may be taken in the future.

I agree that our ground is a crumbling old dump but there is still. O reason as to why so many restrictions are put in place

There's nothing wrong with the ground.

Just give them the full allocation.

It's hardly going to fall down.

On the other hand....reading some of the threads on here with reference to the disaster makes it more of a case of moving altogether and removing once and for all the stigma attached to the ground.
