George Hirst to Carlisle?

Recommended Posts

A mate who supports Carlisle says they've inquired about Hirst on loan for the remainder of the season - a temporary replacement for Charlie Wyke, who has been linked as Winnall's replacement at Barnsley (£400k).

Personally, think it would be a great move for Hirsty. Getting game time away from the pressures at Wednesday, hopefully a few goals to get him going, and toughen up in a more physical league.

That'd be a smashing move for him. Good team that focuses on youth development and are at the top end of their league. All these people saying Hirst can play league one or Championship level don't really realise he probably isn't ready. He's only 17. League 2 would be great experience for him.

So is there anything in the  story in a local Liverpool paper, Everton are after him to add to their U23 squad?

Yea reports suggest we got offered 1 million for him and dc turned it down, CC in todays presser has said hes not moving and wants to stay

Dont particularly like the manager up there Keith Curle, but he's doing a cracking job. Think young George will benefit from a loan till end of season.

No.

Sending him there will just deflate him. Put him on the bench here, odd sub appearance is where he'll learn. If he's good enough he's old enough. Shipping him off to back of beyond and down the leagues will put it in his head that he's not wanted here and he will start to look elsewhere

If every time a young player was loaned out it was a signal they weren't wanted, why would clubs ever do it? Man U loaned out Jesse Lingard multiple times but his head didn't drop and he scored the winner in the FA Cup final last season.

Putting him on the subs bench wont do anything. We are looking to secure a play off spot currently and if performances slip and we end up out of them fans will get frustrated and boo the team and having a 17 year old come on for players like fletcher are not what we need will only hurt him and our performance

This guy is different though. Am I swayed because his Dad is a legend here? Yes,

Think of what it would do for him to score his 1st professional goal for his Dad's team.

Now think of that for Carlisle.
