January signings

Recommended Posts

Getting Hutch, Bannan and Sougou back in the matchday squad will help a lot.

Jury still out on Hooper for mine. I was very keen to bring him in and haven't changed my mind yet. Needs more time, and we have until Christmas to make a decision.

Good business by the club there.

Get Hooper in to see how things go over a reasonable period, then if it doesn't work we can try an alternative for the rest of the season.

If it does work out then we can make a move for a full transfer in Jan if that's needed/wanted.

Id honestly be happy with making Pudil and Bannan sign 3 year deals

There's a player in matias, the technique behind his goal against leeds shows that, I don't think he's quite quick enough to be a winger in English game, put him just off the striker and he'll show his worth imo. The problem is how does he dislodge forestieri?

He won't dislodge Forstieri, he's a totally different player

A class act but he'll never have Forestieri's engine room for starters

He wants the ball played to him whereas Fernando will go and find it

Make some of the loans permanent hopefully, Hunt, Pudil, Turner maybe Hooper (unless we find a better option)

I agree with those that say we need cover on the wing, we only have 3 specialist wingers, and Matias looks like he'll end up further inside than the wing.

We need a Wallace clone for the left.

Bridcutt is a good shout, we do need better cover at CDM. Although isn't that where Palmer wants to play? Worth a shot?

With nearly 30 players of championship quality, we probably don't really need to sign any more back up players. This side will evolve and get even better, so the only additions I'd make, would be players who can significantly enhance our chances of going up this season.

TBH, it's starting to feel more like "who can we off load" in January ?

We need to make space for better players and start to trim "the fringe" (in a non sexual sort of way, obviously)...

Would agree with that, but any players we bring in have to be substantially better than what we have. You can constantly upgrade, but sometimes the improvement is so marginal, that it's not worth the upheaval

Sorry, by better I meant better than any of the "first team" that we currently have, not just better than the "fringe"...

We offloaded 16 players in the summer I don't think we need to offload any more. Most of what's left are valuable squad players. Just loan them out for game time.

Maybe the only exception is Lavery who I think might need to leave for his own career.

And I don't think anyone would miss Vermijl.

Impressed with Rohan Ince for Brighton last year, he is a good big strong midfielder, didn't play against us at home not sure if injured or out of favour..was captain last year I think.

Decent shout, he's a good player. I doubt he'd be looking to leave Brighton just now given how well they're doing. Recently signed a new contract, although he has done a lot of bench time so far this season.
