Atmosphere at S6

The front of the kop never sings

Because we're not allowed to stand up.

If a designated singing area was created, meaning people in that bottom section of the Kop (where ever that may be) could stand up, it'd obviously be different.

The club would probably have to put forward a survey to all ST holders to see what they think. Majority decision wins blah blah blah

This club should be more open with the fans.

Think the West Upper is a goer?

Too big an area to start with.

If there's a MASSIVE demand for it & ST sales in the 'singing area' all sell out, obviously the club could consider the idea in the future.

But no point putting people there if only 200/300 people are going to turn up.

This whole thing wouldn't just happen over night if the club did give us permission. It'd take time.

But with patience it could be a massive thing to happen to Hillsborough.

Anytime the club does the 'survey of season ticket holders' that's when you know that they've already made up their minds and nothing will change, but they'll do that anyway to appease those making a noise about it

Because we're not allowed to stand up.

True and quite bonkers when you consider that fans stand up at the back of the Kop/North Stand all game long

Well how do you propose we go about getting this done?

Unless you're against the idea, of course.

The only way to get the club to do it would be to somehow convince everyone from the back of the Kop and the North West corner to move to an area where it works acoustically but doesn't obstruct the view of hundreds of people due to standing. If a few hundred people committed to it for a season you'd soon see it build up. Only when it has a proven effect on the atmosphere will the club act on it.

So...basically it's never going to happen lol

The north stand lads sit up there because of the banter with away fans + the band wee wee them off.

The Kop lads sit near the band cos they love the band and think the view is better up there (which it isn't)

1) Start by getting as many likeminded people as possible to meet at the next match on the kop and sit together in an area that's got hardly anyone sat there and make as much noise as possible

2) Keep doing 1 until it catches on, and then contact the club

PS whatever you do - definitely do it. 100% do it. It needs it.

i thought the away fans were quieter than most have been this season, which made the north much quieter than usual,

as for the kop, it may take a few games to get used to the fact the band wasnt there, but your opportunity to prove we dont need them was yesterday, and again it was v quiet. (by quiet i mean not very loud, as opposed to not trying to sing at all)

think this is the fourth thread on the trot ive opened thats talking about the S6 atmosphere.

thats good, it means people want to change things for the better, and as said in post above, if enough likeminded people rearlly wanna do it, it WILL catch on.

even a half empty Kop, as it was yesterday can make some REAL NOISE as was proved once. i was sat in my seat in Grandstand and i heard this almighty roar come from the kop, like no other noise all game, and i looked round (we had a corner) & Nuhiu was at the far post waving his arms and gesturing to the Kop for some help.

So we can do it. more of the same (edit: more often) Vs Wolves required.

Neil, any idea why the band weren't there and are they coming back?

It is a mystery. Normally you can hear them somewhere on the telly that day/night. But no leeds rhinos, no George groves, no women's hockey I don't think. And no word as to where they were. I just hope it stays this way.

Like them or love them the atmosphere is always better with the band and more people join in when the band fires up than when the the group of lads singing do. Singing or chanting spreads like a wave and unfortunately when the lads start singing the wave doesn't spread, its like no one feels included in it.

Involve yourself then. We don't send invites in the post anymore due to cost cutting

Maybe we dont need to move anyone, just need a way to make it more fashionable to sing. If the lads on the North want to stay there because of the "banter" with the away supporters, fair enough.

We just need a way to encourage people on the Kop to make some noise. The more people joining in, the better. There are plenty of people who start songs off, just need more people to join in and make it spread.

Exactly

The lads on the North are just about the only consistent noisemakers in the ground, so that's pretty much the North West area covered

The issue isn't the lads on the North - it's everyone else
