Joe Mattock - Not good enough infact total poo pooe.

What's this 'experienced championship defender' done for us so far then?

Let's have a good think -

  • v Huddersfield - Stupidly received two yellow cards, the first one being debatable, however the second was no question he simple couldn't keep up with the striker so sweeped his legs. This IMO cost us the game we had the momentum at the time and the extra man.
  • v Southampton - Again is unable to put in a simple challenge inside the box and give away a penalty.. Was probably going to lose anyway and it was in the cup but still..
  • v Hull - It is arguable as to whether or not it was his fault we conceded, however as he just looked like in capable.

and now supposedly pushing JJ and causing a brawl in the tunnel?

In other words - his attitude stinks and worst off he stinks..

and we loan flippingMB to Millwall WHAT THE ACTUAL roger?

And this weeks scapegoat is ……

Not a scapegoat just read about his pushing JJ etc in the tunnel..

About time he realised Sheffield Wednesday is a lot bigger than him.

- Also JJ being one of the most passionate players in the team..

Mattock past proves his attitude isn't the best.

He let one of their players thru first half but apart from that I thought he'd put in a strong performance today, probbly as good as any I've seen at right back this season.

However I was too far away from their goal to blame anyone.

I still prefer Reda though, because he offers a lot more going forward and in terms of dominating the opposition.

Thought he did alright today.

And so did i.

The first 2 examples the OP uses are a little unfair as JM was playing out of postion.

Since he's been playing in his 'specialist' position (Wolves and today) he's been ok IMO.

Mattock did ok, he got rinsed about 4 times but nothing was done to help him. If he is getting beaten then I would have said the Antonio for the next couple of minutes help him out. Their fullback was allowed to waltz through a few times, Mattock cannot mark his man aswell pick up the runner.

Barkley had no interest in helping out defensively on the second half. Semedo urged on by the ever knowing crowd ran out of position several times leaving a big hole behind him aswell as not being able to cover like is did excellently in the first half.

Llera was beaten about 4 times in succession from a ball pumped down the pitch, the last one resulting in their goal. If you are beaten twice that is when you harry the forward or atleast try and be more physical, just jumping behind him isn't good enough.

We were given about 4 warnings signs down that side yet no-one either management or other players decided,

"You know what just give Mattock a bit of help for the next 5-10 minutes make them think again about comming down this side and help build his confidence back up."

Slow

Can't tackle AT ALL

Going forward adds nothing

I think Dave Jones will finally get this club where it should be, but signings like this one baffle me.

Possibly needs a few months cus he has hardly played for a few years, but at the moment he is a liabilty.

Anyone that thought he was anything but below average today needs looking at!

It's bizare, Jones and Mattock are supposed to be decent Championship players - they join us and their league 2 standard.

If Jones stays or goes, the fact remains we're stuck with a batch of utterly testicles players.

mattock doesnt look good enough whatever position he plays in he looks slow and doesnt tackle some of players we have look below championship standard the most ridiculous thing is sending beevers to one of our rivals at bottom of league and guess what millwall won and got a clean sheet dont know what the logic is in that one
