SiJ
Meggo obviously sees something in Reda - he's playing him at left back!!! :st2: Always thought that he's a bit too much of a liability and I'm surprised that he is getting the nod over Bennet. However, he must be doing something right and long may it continue. The guy clearly enjoys playing for Wednesday greatly so I hope that repays the faith that Meggo has in him. Hawkeye
hmmm lines and reda have been pretty decent in the last few games, they might not have set the world alight today, but its a bit harsh to say that they should be dropped. Reda is a centreback playing as leftback, if he could cut the daft mistakes out id play him next to batth personally, i think Jones is a liablilty, unless our opposition resort to long ball. JJ needs games, but thats his own fault.
Guest bartos
I'd be interested to know whether the opinions are based on beam back viewing stand viewing.. I thought JOC was ok, wished he'd done better wi the header.. Reda was caught out of position on occasion n Lines gave it away now and again but these things happen in football All were of a satisfactiory standard, oh n for the record I watched in the TV
townend_owl
JJ was shocking, as he has been every time he's played this season. Reda couldn't have done much more than he did, given the fact he was picked at left back for the biggest game of the season (not his fault). Lines did ok in my opinion, there was no stand-out poor players for me really
Euse
JOC was bad .... JJ was horrific.
Lincowl
To clarify I wasn't writing any of the players off, hope they all improve and play an important part in our season. As a team on the up though we need to be critical in a fair way as any chain is only as strong as the weakest links. Thought the defence bar Reda looks a very good unit, ditto for Marshall, Semedo and COG for what it's worth.
Danish
When we have Lowe fit, I would be tempted to try GOG on the left, Marshall on the right and Palmer and Semedo in the middle. I think Lowe and Madine could become a very good partnership up top. I would prefer to see Bennett at left-back. I like Reda but I don't think we should be playing him out of position. Interesting suggestion. I too would like to see Palmer tried in the middle sometime as he's the best 'ball-player' we've got I think. Just not sure about O'Grady on the wing. I heard that he had played a bit for Rochdale there but Im suprised with his size, and he doesn't exactly take people on does he?
Guest Bedders
Firstly it was a decent battling performance, in a game we should have won in the end and we definitely have a better team than United. However along with Lines (probably a squad player at best) Reda and Jermaine were our standout weakest links IMO. Reda was regularly caught out of position and beaten at will, his limitations at leftback shown time and time again as they repeatedly targeted him. Think Bennett deserves his place as a steady specialist leftback, while Reda is a decent third choice centreback for now. JJ was apparently excellent in pre-season but since coming back from injury looks unfit, overweight and dare I say it a good yard or two slower into the bargain. Thought JOC did reasonably well in the first half so this change was definitely for the worse. I can't believe I'm reading this! Who do you think put off their goalie with his physical presence to allow The Goal Machine to score? Reda would be my first choice left-back everytime!!! SERIOUSLY!!! Him, along with Marshall's long throw, cause complete havoc....& I'm pretty sure there will be more goals (directly or indirectly) from the panic of the long throw & the physical presence everytime. I'm more worried about the midget covering the near stick TBH!!!!!
Guest Bedders
Joc was throw . misseda sitter and let ched evans score . reda had little help from him also I don't think I'd have put it quite like that.....but in essence I can only agree with 'the spirit' of what you are getting at!!!! cross owl
I think the problem with JJ ( apart from his end product sometimes ends up in row z after beating everyone twice ) is that when he comes on part way through a match he tries to justify a start by trying to win the match on his own and when it doesn`t work he`s back to coming in off the bench and so it goes on . I like JJ but I`m not blinkered into thinking he`s Ronaldo . If he chilled the f**k out and stopped trying to do everything on his own he`d be better . Just my opinion Edited October 17, 2011 by cross owl
oh_weds_we_love_you
What's controversial? Is the thinking Reda did well at leftback today with some? The fact you though JOC was decent when he was f*cking garbage.
Lee A
Lines and Semedo in the middle for me every time. Lines had a bit of an average game yesterday, but he's by no means an average player and has put in some really good performances, his passing is the best in the team and he can move with the ball too. I've been impressed with Palmer on the right this season and would use him there, as he gets older and stronger he'll be a good player for us. 1867Heaven
Lines is our second best central midfielder, so a shoe in for that position for me. Semedo has played much much better without Jesus trying to do the same job alongside him. Prutton will do a better job than JOC on the right (flip me, he wants shooting if he can't!!!). JJ isn't a footballer. got to look at jj's age he's 33 now and is going to get slower. Think Prutton is better than lines but we dont get forward enough when he plays. If there is money to strengthen then a better version on lines and a winger is needed in January and maybe 2 wingers if Marshel goes back. Not complaing though and happy with how the season is going butt if we really want a top2 finnish these are Things Megson must already know along with if Batth goes back and how weaver recovers. Lincowl
Just not sure about O'Grady on the wing. I heard that he had played a bit for Rochdale there but Im suprised with his size, and he doesn't exactly take people on does he? Au contraire, COG is a very skilful player. What about when his tricky footwork beat the defender and took him to the line? His physicality shouldn't fool anyone that he's just a big lump. However, Megson has stated something will have to go very wrong (injuries etc) for us to play him on the wing.
Lincowl
The fact you though JOC was decent when he was f*cking garbage. Disagree, he offered more than JJ on this occasion and it's no coincidence that our second half performance dropped off some IMO. Was getting stuck in at least. As I say above JJ minus his pace is little threat at all.
