History repeating?

We all know last year we brought in players too late, not fit etc. at the end of last season Bully said he wanted to get business done early with Carlos stating he wanted around 5 new additions. At present we have 1 new signing and the lads are already on a preseason tour. Just hope we don't do what we did last year and leave it too late.

Sadly signing players is never a straight forward thing, yes we will have identified targets but others will have their eyes on them, there are agents negotiating best deals and it all takes time.

you cant make players sign and if they prefer to sit tight and see what offers they get from other clubs there's not a lot the club can do ......as to be better to wait and see if you can get  your  targets than go for your second or third choices .

That's always the danger, some of our targets we will miss out on because we can't compete ie Snodgrass to a Prem team. We are fortunate that we don't need a lot just a CB and maybe a RB now, anything else would be a bonus as long as it's better than what we have. I'd sooner focus on these 2 areas than sign players for the sake of it.

Surely a left back is more on the agenda then a right back?

Way way too early to worry about signings.

Boyd is already an excellent start.

I agree we want any players as early as possible to hit the ground settled by 5th August though. No more "finding our team" in September.

Its a fair one although Reach can do a job and Pudil isn't as bad as made out.

RB we have Palmer who isn't that good and Hunt blows hot and cold.

Pudil had a strange season. Some matches he was strong, assured and an attacking threat. Other times he was all at sea and looked like he was running through wet cement.

I think Reach is likely to play LB a lot more than Pudil this season, especially with Boyd and Wallace here.

dont know how some fans would have coped back in the 60's when the club only signed 3 players in the 3 years vic Buckingham was in charge ,we had a good side back then and it wasn't easy to get better in which is pretty much the case at present .....while you always want better it's not cast in in stone that you have to buy 4 or 5 new players every window .

Difference this year is the squad is much stronger

We could do with securing a CB early but the other positions I'm not so worried about

Instead of shooting him down for having a bad reputation, he does have a point.  Look at Huddersfield - they did all their business early last season and they had everybody in prior to their team bonding trip to Sweden in the first week of July.  Look what happened to them last season - spookily enough they got off to a great start and consequently got promoted!

They have been in the playoff final and therefore less chance to prepare for this season, however they have already brought in top players in Scott Malone, Danny Williams, Tom Ince, Arran Mooy to permanent, Kasey Palmer loan, Mounie, Depoitre and they are currently negotiating a deal for a Danish centre back.

I am concerned with our pre-season schedule and if we do bring players in late again, we may suffer yet another bad start.

Windows only been open 7 days and it's not just a case of going down t'shops and picking what you want off the shelf. Also, my understanding of our chairman, and Thais in general, is they love to barter, so this also means that unlike the crazy Dr down the M1, we will hold out for the best deal.
