  1. Worked for someone today who works at SWFC and apparently he yet again FF asked for a transfer request that was turned down. If true I don't understand why we don't get shut, he clearly doesn't want to be here. Get a bidding war going and brim someone in who wants to play for the shirt.
  2. Both very similar players- born centre forwards, know where the goal is but not the quickest, that doesn't affect Kane and I beleive if we build a team around Rhodes he could be as influential to us as Kane is to Spurs. If we get behind Rhodes from the start next season and give him the confidence I think he'll be on fire!
  3. We all know last year we brought in players too late, not fit etc. at the end of last season Bully said he wanted to get business done early with Carlos stating he wanted around 5 new additions. At present we have 1 new signing and the lads are already on a preseason tour. Just hope we don't do what we did last year and leave it too late.
  4. People act as though he's playing for us for free out of the goodness of his heart. He's one of the best paid players in the Championship. Yes he is a good player but I'm not going to get all teary eyed over a 2nd tier player who earns twice in one week what the average person gets a year.
  5. The thing is with Rotherham supporters I'm sure more Wednesday fans who live in Rotherham would be more supportive of them if they weren't totally obsessed with Wednesday and Wednesday fans living in Rotherham
  6. Now I'm all for you should support your local club, however sometimes you have links through family. I personally grew up in Rotherham, about a mile from Sheffield. My old man took me ti Hillsborough when I was 4, My Dad is a born and bred Sheffielder. With the locality and family ties to Sheffield I was never going to support anyone else, in a way totally out of my hands. One thing that really fooks me off with the bitterness Roth fans with Wednesday is claiming Rotherham Owls aren't real Wednesday fans as not from Sheffield and not supporting the town you live in or born in football team. One particular person constantly refers to this when engaged in any banter. Anyone else have this, and what's the best response to this ridiculous claim!
  7. What's peoples views on Bully as number 2. Wonder if bringing in a more experianced head would benefit the team more. Then again Bully is Wednesday through and through so good to have him around the club!
  8. Early on in the season thought he had some terrible games, but fair play to him in the last 5-6 games he did really well. I personally think we need to ship Palmer out and bring in another full back to Challenge Hunt
  9. Fair point, but difficult to not be so gutted about probably our easiest chance in years to go up
  10. So others failing is a good enough excuse for us failing then?
  11. I was indifferent about Carlos signing a new contract but now I'm disappointed. Huddersfield with a budget of just 12 million have gone up yet Carlos with a budget of over 30 million can't get us past one of the lowest budget teams in the division. Over 2 seasons that's bad management.
  12. I'm torn tbh. Part of me is pleased, stability etc but the other half is looking back at games against Burton, Brentford and Reading etc and dreading another season of football like that
  13. So who's happy with the news about Carlos staying? State why you're happy or not.
  14. Hindsight is a brilliant thing. Hypothetically speaking-if you knew we would crash out on Wednesday like we did would you have preferred to not have made the playoffs in the first place?
  15. Surely even the most hardened happy clapper can see we need a decision asap either way.
  16. Whether Carlos decides to stay or go or DC wants to get rid the decision should be made now. The club needs to move on and start preparing for next season right away.
  17. Some interesting replies from the ones who clearly have a brain. The "OP is a pig" comments are just immature and lack thought. As a lot have said 12 months on we haven't learnt a thing. Last season after Wembley we were crying out for a couple of full backs (Palmer not good enough) New Centre back (Loovens coming to an end) a couple of tricky wingers (had one in Mcmanaman but didn't play him, and an out and out forward (We bring Rhodes in in January who was no where near fit) For me that's why Carlos needs to go, don't think he's got the minerals for the English 2nd tier tbh
  18. 2 Play Off defeats will be hard for the same set of players to come back again from. Unbelievable how or why Carlos started 10 players from the final defeat. We need a new manager with new ideas and maybe bring in 4 or 5 players and ship out the same. Lets get moving again
  19. Must be laughing their balls off and wondering how we've handed them 15 million quid
  20. Thanks for the 6 points... Jonjo Shelvey “I don’t think Sheffield Wednesday are a tremendous team but it is what it is” Jonjo Shelvey "I thought we done enough throughout the (Sheffield Wednesday) game to get the three points." 9 hours ago by Jackie Smithfield Share It wasn’t a good day at the office for Newcastle United in their Saturday teatime clash at Hillsborough, with Jonjo Shelvey the only outfield payer to really do himself justice. A number of second-half efforts were saved by the keeper before he finally scored when gambling and getting into the box, then finishing off the rebound from the Mitrovic shot that was saved. Jonjo Shelvey of course also hit the bar with an outrageous from his own half on the stroke of half-time. Another feature of the midfielder this season is that he comes out with some interesting quotes at times, not what you generally get from your average player. Shelvey isn’t shy of saying the odd thing that isn’t the usual platitudes, rather than praising Sheffield Wednesday he preferred to say ‘I don’t think Sheffield Wednesday are a tremendous team to be honest with you’. Obviously they aren’t a ‘tremendous team’ or else they wouldn’t be only sixth and facing a fight to even make the play-offs but they have now made Newcastle look very ordinary on two occasions this season. Maybe Jonjo Shelvey earned the right to be a little outspoken, having been the one Newcastle player who showed he was better than those on the other side, otherwise it would have looked extremely lame if coming from a Diame, Perez or Gouffran, or a number of others. Goals do win games and if that Shelvey effort had gone in then I have no doubt that we would have been talking about another Newcastle win but yet again, after going behind we never really looked likely to get anything out of yesterday’s match. Jonjo Shelvey speaking to NUFC TV: “I thought we had enough chances to win. “In the first half they had a few chances as well but I thought we done enough throughout the game to get the three points. “I don’t think Sheffield Wednesday are a tremendous team to be honest without you but it is what it is.” ‘It might not have been the best 45 minutes but if your audacious effort had gone in, you would have been one up at the break?’ “Yes, we were still comfortable, we started the game really well, passing the ball about. “We then fell from that a little bit when they started having a few chances. “Then in the second half we should have gone a couple of goals up early doors. “Two set-pieces have done us. “I had been looking earlier in the game and saw the keeper off his line, so I just thought if I get a bit of space I’ll try it. “I have tried a few times in my career and have scored before from halfway, I’m confident enough to do that. “I was pleased with my shooting overall but only problem was my other shots were straight at the keeper. “We are still 10 points clear and no need to panic.”
  21. Never would have thought he wouldn't get in front of Hooper and Fletch but I can't see how Carlos can drop em. Don't know whether to be pleased or devastated we're in a situation where a 10 million pound player can't get a game.
  22. How come I have more negs than this willy smoker Alan Lee?!
