Liverpool agree deal to sign Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle for £25m

So Newcastle are raking in further funds and likely to get Lucas from Liverpool. Crazy the sort of budget we're attempting to compete with

Exactly, we are nowhere near competing with that. We just have to accept it and move on. The best way to compete would be to beat Newcastle home and away next season.

In summary, still very much the same as last week. The promotion contenders such as ourselves, Derby, Brighton, Wolves, Norwich and Ipswich haven't done much if anything. Bristol City, QPR, Leeds and Fulham have probably looked to improve the most by spending on players. But with the expection of Bristol City they have also sold their best players to balance the books. Newcastle and Villa are kind of in a world of their own and the rest of the league are all on low fees, freebies and loans. Not worried yet.

We'll buy quality players when the quality players decide they're not going to get better offers.

Waiting game. Carlos and Mr C have already said so. Also hinted on arrivals prior to setting off to Portugal.

Anyone got reasons to doubt this state of affairs? If so why?

Reyt looks like we finally have new 'players' in the promotion chase. Wolves have pretty much just completed their £45M takeover and I imagine will be spending quite heavily under the new wealthy Chinese owner.
