  1. He didn't completely get us relegated, but Laws left us by 'mutual consent' when we were two places above the Championship drop zone (in a season we did end up getting relegated) and rocked up at Burnley in the Premier League a couple of weeks later. Carlos didn't really have us at risk of being relegated, but despite fan unrest growing he was still seemingly headhunted by a Premier League team too. Bruce was only doing a relatively steady job when he was poached into a much more lucrative position at significant expense to Newcastle. There seems to be something about doing a decent job with Wednesday; you don't really need to prove too much before other clubs seem willing to give you a chance in the big league. I don't think a low-end Prem team taking a chance on Röhl would be any more of a gamble than employing the above people into the positions they moved into at the time. It's not beyond the realms of possibility, certainly not in regards to a top-end Championship team coming in for him either.
  2. I wouldn't expect him to, he has young kids of primary school age. Are there any German-speaking schools in Yorkshire, or even the whole UK for that matter...?
  3. Johnson has had about 4 different conspiracy theories going around about him in the last 12 months. Although after what Xisco did I guess that's not too surprising.
  4. I'm sure he's on a decent wage at Liverpool, but what could have been with that £3.32-million-a-week contract Al-Ittihad were reportedly prepared to offer him in the summer might be playing on his mind about now.
  5. Problem is, we can only work with the knowledge of the facts we know about. One of those facts is that he seemingly intentionally screwed us over financially by going to Leicester via one of their offshore feeder clubs so they wouldn't have to pay us the fees we were entitled to. Is that disputed? I can't see how it could be with how it all played out, but I'd be happy to hear another explanation.
  6. Do you have insider information? I seem to remember the claim at the time was that we offered him the best contract we've ever offered to a player coming out of the academy.
  7. Assuming Johnson hasn't been instructed to stop making runs like he did yesterday for the goal (I'd expect he's actually encouraged to, same goes with Pol), then it's the team's responsibility to drop in and cover his position while he's attacking. He can't be blamed for not being in two places at once.
  8. Aside from the three points I think this is my 2nd most favourite thing from today.
  9. Forest have every right to be apoplectic about that third penalty decision, I can't fathom how VAR didn't give it. Where they've crossed the line is publicly calling the official's integrity into account. That doesn't seem like a sensible thing for a supposedly professional outfit to do. That being said, I'd be genuinely surprised if there's a single impartial person in the country with eyes who would (non jokingly) claim it wasn't a foul. So to be fair to them, either the VAR assistant was biased in their decision making, or they're so severely incompetent at their job that this decision is grounds for instant dismissal from their position and they should never referee professionally again. There's no excuse for getting that so incredibly wrong with the luxury of replays. I'm baffled.
  10. Unless there's a clause of goalkeepers not being subject to the denying of a goalscoring opportunity rule then surely the only way to interpret it is that he would be given a red for denying a goal by purposely committing a foul. It's a situation I doubt the rules ever took into account when written, but as far as I understand them I don't see why he'd get away without further punishment. Not that I'd expect the referee to interpret the rules logically at all (perhaps understandably in this case...).
  11. I watched the movie for the first time a couple of months back (spoilers ahead)... I'm now quite confused why we've adopted it into footballing culture as inspiration for being able to pull off almost impossible-looking feats like avoiding relegation against all odds, given that the great escape ultimately ended in failure with almost everyone either dead or recaptured Catchy tune though.
  12. I could understand posting a thread like this if you were born yesterday, but it’s less than 12 months after Peterborough so that should make you realise you’re giving up hope too easily, or just looking for attention I guess.
  13. Surprisingly they kept him on for the whole 90 minutes as well, even though the game was clearly over before the hour mark. Their fans have been saying he looks knackered at the moment. I can't say I liked seeing it at the time, but I've noticed Röhl subbing Bannan and one or two others to save them for the next game when we've dropped 3 or 4 goals behind a couple of times this season.
