Sam Allardyce

Do people actually believe we'd get Allardyce in?

Of course they do.

He's said he doesn't want to be manager anywhere at beginning of next season.

He'll want a sky high premier league standard contract.

He'll bring with him a committee that will dwarf and replace our current one, who will want sky high premier league contracts.

He'll alienate the clubs fans with turgid football, cos that's what he always does.

At 60 years old, he's the young manager that so many want.

He might get us promoted, cos after all he did it 3 years ago with a club who'd been relegated and had plenty of million pound players in a premier league infrastructure.

There's plenty to believe in, if tha gullible enough.

Anybody who is anybody will soon walk through that door
At Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy
Always able to find you a table theres room for just one more
At Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speaskeasy

Once you get here feel the good cheer
Like they say in the poem
Fat Sam's ain't humble
But it's your home sweet home
Plans are made here,
Games are played here
I could write me a book
Each night astounds you
Rumours are a-buzzin
Stories by the dozen
Look around your cousin at the news we're making here.

Anybody who is anybody will soon walk through that door
At Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy

Da da da da da da
Da da da da da da
Da da da da da da da
Ooh yeah ooh yeah da da da da da da da

See the politician
Sitting by the kitchen
Said he caught his fingers
In the well he was wishing in

Once you get here
Feel the good cheer
Like they say in the poem
Fat Sam's ain't humble but its your home sweet home
Plans are made here
Games are played here
I could write me a book
Each night astounds you
Rumours are a-buzzin
Stories by the dozen
Look around your cousin at the news we're making here

Anybody who is anybody will soon walk through that door
At Fat Sam's Grand Slam Speakeasy!

You summed it up perfectly there mate.

1) He doesn't have the track record some seem to think at getting teams promoted.

2) A couple of years back it was in the media that he was the 13th highest paid manager in European football. £50,000 a week. We wont pay anywhere close to that, and would be absolutely stupid to consider it.

3) As the above poster says, he would want a full backroom staff of his one people who would want similarly high wages which we need to invest in our squad wages.

3) He wouldn't come here anyway. In his eyes he can do much better, and as things stand right now, he is probably right.

Allardyce plays football in a style which stops other teams playing it is effective and will keep you in Premiership and high position in Championship but you will not progress and challenge top teams. at West ham they have brought in some good players and added flair but underlying formation is the way Sam has played for 20 years. If succession planning is the aim of the club this is not way to go as Allardyce recruits players to play in certain role. Any replacement manager is certain to have different style and this requires huge expenditure to recruit new players. Allardyce core players will not be highly sort after by other clubs hence cost of replacing him will be astronomic. When he leaves a club they usually struggle due to the problem outlined above.

This is exactly the opposite to what Chansiri has suggested he is trying to do, with a committee approach trying to ensure a clubs success is not reliant on one person.

And all for a manager that has won nothing in his managerial career. Not one single major trophy.

We''ll be struggling to appoint anyone if one of the requisites is trophy wins.

listening to Greys talk with Staton today, it seemed almost like an interview....

The fact 2/3rds of this committee has been chosen without consulting him, and by the sounds of it they've not even spoken to him yet, I can very well see another manager being in charge at the start of next season.

I doubt that'll be Allardyce, but there's plenty worse options if it is....

Is that opposed to it actually being an interview?

Didn't he start at West Ham when they were in th championship? You could say from this that it's plausible he could be linked with us.

That team he took on was an absolute far cry from the team we have, so the closes he will be coming is on his way back up the M1

Is that a joke.

Twice championship playoffs winners.

Once second division winner.

Runner up in the league cup.

3 premiership managers of the month awards.

I'd say he has won a fair bit

Let's look at Mr Gray, oh wait a minute nothing, zilch, zero, not even a Christmas hamper.

Tough tough choice.

In other words he's won lots of runner up awards, no major trophies and one second division championship with a team who'd been relegated and were probably valued in excess of £20m.

One trophy win.

Unwanted by the club he just left and their fans.

Bigger entourage than Kim Kardashian.

Taking the summer off.

Nah, not a tough choice.
