Why decide now to leave when it looks like they will get taken over?

 

The new prospective owners would have been desperate to keep hold of him. He'd be able to attract some very good players to League One.

There's a few like this. Apparently QPR's new manager was the brains behind Gerrard's time at Rangers and Villa, so be interesting to see how he gets on next year without.
