If we got a new manager tomorrow and he asked Westwood to play I’m sure he would want to, and I’m sure he’d give 100% when he did too. Some players are financially motivated and once they sign a decent contract literally don’t care, my wife knows the wife of one such player (now retired). Some would say fletcher hobbled onto the pitch and then straight off to avoid playing and therefore risking injury before signing for someone else. As far as KW goes I think like you say he’s very competitive. If you look at his career he played through the lower leagues but then had a period of his career where he was a substitute for a few years, I don’t think he wants to go back to that and would rather either play or do nothing. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

But the latter pretty much said he didn’t want to be associated with the current team anyway. If that has been the take it or leave it attitude amongst senior players I.e. doing us a favour then that is perhaps the issue. I’d be wanting senior players like those two to want to prove a manager wrong and help their team. They don’t have that long left in their career.
