On the flip side some of our play-off rivals have lost to relegation threatened teams. The points we gained in these fixtures will be invaluable come the end of the season.

I just think this season will be a low one to get a play off place. Lets hope so and we make it.

I dont think how we end this season will have any bearing on how we perform next season (assuming we dont go up) because....

1. We finished like a house on fire last year...and look what happened.

2. This team is unlikely to look anything like next years due to the out of contract and loan players currently involved.

If we have any money to spend 2, might be a good thing.

im a realist this lately(run) has been brilliant but look at the games remaining ,look at our performance away at stoke where we hardly crossed the half way line , we are going to at least have to win 6 out of last 7 inc wins against villa, forest and Bristol city at home , need to beat preston away leeds away and qpr home, Norwich maybe draw giving us 74-75 points , its possible 71-72 might be enough but that would need us to beat villa and derby to slip up . if we win 2moro id say we are in with a chance but we will need to be at our very beat to beat villa who are on fire at the min. if we go all guns blazing at them we will get cut to ribbons , we need a decent ref , all to play well , and hope hutch puts grealish in his place.

Been away for a wee bit, but back now.

After a great week for Bristol City and a horrible week for Middlesboro, things for us look very much the same.

Still finishing 8th, but about 3 points off 6th which means it's very much a possibility.

Derby and Forrest can't win away, while Boro can't win at home. This seem like putting pay to their bids for the playoffs.

So, it looks like a fight with Villa, Bristol and Preston, and we're still to play all 3 of them!

Shaping up to be a properly exciting run in, especially with 2 of those 6 pointers being in our last 3 games.
If we make it, we'll certainly have earnt it.

We don’t have to win 6 out of seven.

I think 4 wins, 2 draws and a loss could well be good enough now that there are two places up for grabs.

But it certainly looks like we can’t let Villa take all 3 points.

70 points would not be enough .derby would need 11 points from 8 games to get that and there goal dif is better. we need to beat villa 2moro and hope derby lose. they also have a game in hand.

Out of the 7 remaining games, 6 of them are versus the teams currently placed above us. Win these and we're in the play offs! lol

On a serious side, we've got a really tough run in and I'll be happy to end the season with a top 10 finish if we can. Anything better is a bonus and play offs is like a big hairy goal and if we achieve that, I reckon we'll have accomplished something so huge we'll coast through them and make our way to the glorious lands of Premier League... how's that for jinxing poo up!! :D

Some teams are in form (BC, PNE, Us), some are out of form (Mboro), some are inconsistent (DC, Forest) , some teams though have finally hit their real potential (WBA Villa).  Form, as we know is temporary and its hard to predict how long form carries on for, so the past really wont be much of a guide to how many points each individual team gets. Otherwise, accas would be easy.

What we do know is that this season, to get into 6th place at the moment its 60 points over 39 games at 1.53 points per game . Over 46 games that will be around 71 points.

Yes, 2 teams may bolt away, but its clearly close this year around the play offs and teams haven't got away so far, the best guide we have is the evidence from the season so far.

71 points would of course mean 5 wins out of 7.

Remaining points for each team:

Bristol - 9

Villa - 15

Derby - 10

Boro - 10

Forest - 8

Preson - 8

Us - 12/15 - if we can pull a win at Leeds

I personally think we can beat any of them sides apart from Norwich away, the rest are nothing to be afraid of including Leeds

Hopefully Bannan and Iorfa arent out for long.

Some of the run run ins for those around us are difficult - Preston, Derby, Bristol stand out.

Makes today such a waste - we could’ve probably afforded to lose one of Leeds/Norwich with a win today
