Sure it was.

The Fisherprice my first scoreboard must have been in it's infancy back then though and was a ground breaking piece of technological kit!

What about the days that the scores were manually put up by some poor sod down on the touchline and you had to refer to the programme for which match corresponded to A, B, C, D... etc.

 

Try and tell the kids today about that futuristic bit of a match day experience and they just won't believe you.

I was responsible for the scoreboard between 1990 -1995. Gave live updates on the Grand National one year....was there for the European evening against Kaiserslautern (and got a bollocking for putting up derogatory comments in German !!!). Used to take an hour to programme the adverts, birthdays and other matches. Used to sit in the little blue DJ box that was next to the Police control box....happy days
