BIG D
COG about 1 in 3 at Rochdale. Madine 1 in 5 at Carlisle. If Madine can get us 1 in 4 goals this season I'd be surprised. Loads of appearances in as sub for Madine when he was 17 & 18 which you knew
BIG D
In our promotion season Madine 18 goals in 41 games COG 7 goals in 37 Madine has the potential, the time has come to get his head down and work hard. Don't come with facts mate. They aren't allowed on Owlstalk. It seems everyone wants to write Madine off and not count him in our striker collection. He needs to be given a chance. Guest Fedor
Why are all the knowitalls presuming Best would get 15-20 goals in a season for us? He has only ever hit double figures once in a season and that was in League One.

We saw best play last season and he was effective . We saw with our own eyes the kind of player he is. So that is what we base our opinions on. If we sign best he will be an important part of our attacking options and he is well capable of scoring regularly at this level.

I'm willing to give Madine a clean slate and hoping it was his off field issues holding him back. But facts are COG has proved himself in Championship whereas Madine hasn't. Lincowl
The usual bait and switch. Someone always slags off COG to make themselves feel better about our lower quality striker options. Soon as anyone defends him, they're obsessed and are the ones who keep bringing him up.

Regardless of the goals he scored, many Barnsley fans were frustrated with him and came out with similar comments to the ones Wednesday fans did. He hugs the touch line and slows attacks down. He was poor for us. The only reason you lincowl and a minority of posters keep banging on about him is because he forms part of a very old argument you cannot let go of. You're right, 27 years ago he couldn't even walk let alone score a goal... in fact according to the stats, he had no first team football until he was like 18 and even then he didn't score until he came on loan with us at 20. sod the stats. the stats say kieran lee is right back and that buxton's best position is on the medical table. we know best can score goals for us and offers something our current players doesn't. He did fairly well for us last season and if we can get him back fitter than then you have to imagine he'd do even better.

Spookone
Rather pay him the money we were probably offering Brandao. Knows the team, knows the club. I'd be chuffed if we signed him. Good goalscorer at this level. People on here would've creamed themselves over him before HM came on the scene... Not sure about that, I wouldn't have really liked him back before the takeover - he hasn't really scored lots of goals over his career, and certainly can't see him getting anywhere near 20. I am happy to be proved wrong though - you never know
ruscol85
People turning their noses up at Best amaze me. I imagine they were ready to drop to their knees and blow him off last season when his goals helped put us safe. Fickle.com

IstillhateSteveBould
Lita scored more for us than Best. He'd cost nothing and his wages would be lower. He'd also probably find himself getting more goal scoring chances in our current side than the one he played in.
