Darren Potter - Gold

Recommended Posts

I was rushing to get back from our recent holiday down South.

Long story short.

Okay, maybe not that short but a few weeks before we went on holiday and this girl I had been sort of seeing for a few weeks who sort of knew Potter from her time at Liverpool Uni, well she was swimming in Rotherham and slipped and banged her head poolside. Proper knocked out, got put into medically induced coma.

Gutted.

Eek. Yeah I know right.

Anyway, we had this family holiday booked to coincide with a cousin's wedding down South.

Didn't really want to go on the holiday but her Mum sort of insisted that I go. It had been paid for, family get together, everything will be fine etc, etc.

So I did.

Kept informed of her condition by text message via her mum and the odd phone call.

All in all the holiday was going smoothly, good wedding but always thinking of Kate.

It was end of the week when I got the call. 1 day of the holiday left.

I was dreading this all the time I was away. It was her mum, telling me things were not looking good.

I packed my stuff up in a hurry and literally bombed it up the m5 and m1.

Stopped off once on the way back for a quick stretch of the legs and a dump, you know how it is?

I think I broke the land speed record.

Hope I don't get a ticket from them motorway cameras.

After a good 5-6 hour run I park up in the car park.

Have no clue where I'm going and finding the ward is a complete pain.

Find my way eventually.

Lift is out of order.

You know sometimes when everything seems to be going against you, thousand and one things racing through the mind.

Get stopped by a staff nurse and she gives me the final directions.

Running down the corridor it's like I'm in my own movie and it all feels weird.

left turn or was it right.

Hate it when I receive directions and I forget them.

Clarke ward. Room 6.

I am sprinting.

People watching me.

I am out of breath.

I open the door.

get on the floor.

everybody.

walk.

the dinosaur.
