It's time for the chairman to step up

It would be nice to see MM give Gray a little more backing and hopefully this will be coming soon with any money coming from our little cup run boosting the pot.

But maybe if all the fans who turn up when there's a cheap offer on at Hillsborough, dig deep (if they can afford too) and turn up to a few more games we could afford that extra bit of quality.

I know of too many Wednesday fans who can afford to go but don't and spend their money in the pub. Their choice I know but they are usually the first to moan about lack of investment in the team!!!

This isn't a dig at the Wednesday fans who back the team all the way but we have way too many floating fans who don't put in.

We get a higher attendance than most sides in the division, but still have one of the lowest wage budgets.

Higher attendances does not translate directly as higher income. It is just a head count, not a count of cash in the tills. SWFC are specifically a good example of how large numbers of fans doesn't guarantee lots of income.

Every year the club makes a loss. The single biggest expense is the wage bill.

Yes we do and but there are so many fans that don't go which simply doesn't help our cause.

Probably because the chairman doesn't invest any money.

This isnt fan bashing on my part as I know we get very healthy crowds, sometimes more than we deserve.

The point im making mate is these fans i know turn up for the big games, have the disposable income to afford attending the games throughout the season and make the most noise in the pub when we are doing well and moan the most when we aren't.

They are also the fans who want us to spend big yet won't spend themselves.

why should the fans spend there money to be bored shitless for a couple of hours im sure when we spend some money on decent players and start playing well more fans will attend

Apart from the 5million a year he is putting into the club to keep it afloat.

If he isn't prepared to do that he shouldn't be a football chairman.

I don't see Milan investing sufficient money to get us challenging at the top of this division, i see him ensuring that we don't go down like the last two years and then tread water until a buyer finally comes along. If there a chance of 6th he may change his mind and have a punt to get us in the play offs but of course that is still at best 1 in 4 chance of going up ( ask any blade lol)

He can get his Money back and make a few quid by selling us as a championship club with a Large fan base to get us to challenge for the top two is going to cost 8 figures I don't think that is a gamble that he is going to take.

Let me start this off by saying this post isn't a dig at Mandaric at all. Up to now, he's done a fantastic job.

But it's now time for him to step up. He's made noise in the media that he believes we can now challenge for the playoffs, that the team isn't far off achieving that ambition. Well now is the right time for him to step in, invest some money and get us that extra quality that can make us one of the best teams in this division.

You can say 'it isn't his style' or 'he has no money', or even 'why change the formula now considering we barely spend anything and are doing well?'. Well the answer to that is simple - the quicker he gets us to the Premier League, the sooner he sells us. Imagine how many suitors would be queuing up to buy us for £40m if we got promoted?

He could get back to his wife who is sadly ill, he could retire and enjoy the money he's made on us.

This season truly could be make or break. The results keep on coming, and while it's early days, we could well be the dark horses of the division. If we break this run by not investing where required, or not adding that extra quality, and we get into a rut, all the good work could be undone.

Call this a rallying cry, or a plea for help. But as an avid, and currently proud Sheffield Wednesday fan, it's now time for Mandaric to make the difference and achieve his goal of getting us to the Premier League. Get that extra quality in Milan.

He's got 2 choices !
