La Liga - Wind your necks in

Recommended Posts

Was just reading this on sky news website. Looks like the point they're making is that psg lose lots of millions every season while other clubs lose less millions every season. Have psg been punished for their losses? Has any team?

It does sound like sour grapes on the surface of it.

Haven't RM historically been bailed out of debt by the Spanish government?

And Barca are hundreds of millions in debt currently?

Am I wrong in thinking there more than 2 clubs in Spain?  What they’ve said and done is bang on.

Why is it a leagues business what a club in a different league does?

It's upto the French league?

Would la liga be saying this if any of their teams spent 150m plus to sign Mbappe?

Dont recall it when Ronaldo went to Madrid

Real were willing to offer Mbappe similar terms to PSG, certainly for wages and signing on fee.

It would appear that PSG allowing Mbappe to run the bloody club has sealed the deal.

It's a bit rich La Liga crowing on about PSG's losses when you see how much debt Barca and Real have accumulated recently.

The reason La Liga are crying so much is they have been losing ground on the PL in recent years.

Once upon a time, La Liga was the place where all the top stars went. Heck, you knew full well that there was a decent chance that the best player in the PL would wind up at either Real or Barca.

But now, things have changed, and the PL is way ahead in many respects and PSG are able to stockpile many of the world's biggest names.

Yeah a few years ago I think they sold a training ground or something to the city council or summat  for a ridiculously inflated fee that basically bailed em out. That won't be the only help they've had either.

Exactly this. Hence the big two also wanting the super league.

Yep.

They've also paid for pretty much building the entire division around two clubs. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Barca and Real receive more tv rights revenue than the rest or something?

Out of the rest, only Atletico really stand out in La Liga. Other big clubs like Valenica, Seville etc., have sort of fallen by the wayside really.

Also - the idea of Real Madrid of all teams complaining because someone else has trumped them for one of the world's biggest players. The club who started and absolutely reveled in their two Galacticos eras; where they consistently paid absurd transfer fees and wages for the world's biggest names season after season.

Give me a break.

In recent times La Liga have wanted to make Real and Barca more sustainable… Real have been building up to buying Mbappe by cutting their cloth a bit (selling Varane etc)

La Liga also basically said that Messi had to be sold didn’t they?  Due to their expenses.

I think the point is with PSG is they can lose £700m over a few years and then offer Mbappe this ridiculous deal… they only got Messi the other week… PSG aren’t global elite clubs in the same way as Real and Barca it’s gone from ridiculous to ridiculously obscene.

If the PSG owner is on the board of UEFA that can’t be seen as a good thing?  Notice how the Champions League final ended up in Paris… the World Cup etc…
