Now he's left I guess it's ok. Basically in 2011, Abdi was targeted by burglars, and as well as defecating in his shoes the burglars stole his lucky cuddly toy (a swiss bear given to him by his best friend Gok Inler who played for Udinese. Abdi was traumatised by this and struggled to even leave the house. He offered a big reward for safe recovery of Bern the bear but Abdi believed the bear had been destroyed by his ex wife as revenge for a relationship he'd had several years previously with Mirka Federa. The club paid for 18 months of counselling for Abdi without success, but he was basically shot. He even accused other players of stealing the bear and dumping in his shoes. One of the reasons he couldn't play anymore was, he was afraid to leave his shoes in the changing rooms. This came from 2 players and a coach. He's not played a game since for the same reasons.
