A few Nuhiu stats:

Because he's such a big unit, he tends to be better in small burst. So, he either comes on as a sub, or starts and is subbed - which makes it appear like he's played an enormous amount of matches. Including the cups he's started 130 games for us and come off the bench 128 times.

But in minutes played, he's played 13,044 it total - equivalent to just under 145 full matches.

In that time he's scored 46 goals* and assisted 25 goals. So while not prolific, he's not far off 1 goal in 3 games and 1 assist every 6 games, per 90 minutes.

*I would argue 47 goals, although Pudil was credited with one goal that Nuhiu actually tapped in on the line

I reckon if Fletcher had started he'd be nursing some nasty dings from their centre backs now.

A good game to leave him at home ...

Big lad did what was asked of him ..

Nuhui has hardly ever been injured in his time here if I remember rightly

If we can use him for these games to rest fletch when he may be nursing a knock - then we should. BIG gamble of course If it doesn’t pay off but we don’t need Fletch our for 6 games

He's a mysterious one.

I can see why people don't like him more often than I see a reason for people to like him.

Im more often sat on the fence but Im never really happy when he starts a game and I find it easy to dislike him when he starts giving the ball away

I think players get ridiculed a lot for their size too. Carlton got a lot of it, but he was a better player than someone like Dennis Wise, who never seems to get picked in these stupid 'Worst Ever England XIs'.

Crouch was another example - fine goalscoring record for club and country but was often mocked. But a similarly effective short player like Jermaine Defoe seemed to escape this.

A lot of Nuhiu's goals or assists are headers, and he often wins the header without getting off the ground. But the reason he doesn't get off the ground (apart from being 6'6" and not needing to) is often he's being pushed by the defenders, so he has to stand his ground and use his body to protect his space. It would look more spectacular if it was a 5'10" player like Tim Cahill outjumping two centre backs, but the result is the same.

Take the goals at 1:25 on this vid for example, three defenders around him, one has a piece of his shirt - doesn't get off the ground....goal.

Pushing the use of stats to the limit by converting minutes played into 90 min slots.

Has to be done in some ways though, as many of his sub appearances have literally been between 5 and 15 minutes.  These are also usually in games where we are just trying to hold on to a point/3 points and not where we are  creating chnace after chance and smashing teams.

Of course stats can always be used to make any player seem better than they are. However, you cant argue with the fact that in total minutes played his stats aren't half as bad as some on here make out.

Decent squad player and useful to have as another option. Would I let him leave if better were to become available? Yes (as with any player in our squad). Would i get rid without replacing? no chance. #DareToNuhiu :ghoulguy:

I'm not having a go at Nuihu but just think it's going too far. Whats next? Looking at how many times the ball was played to him in a match or how long the ball was in play. Still don't think it's correct to convert his total playing minutes into 90 min slots.

In some ways yeah, in others its the only way to actually highlight his impact versus how little game time he has actually had with us.

The fact is that he could play 46 games as a sub @ 2 minutes a game and not score, with people jumping on that to use it as a stick to beat him with and say hes not scored for a full season. The Counter to that being that in total minutes played, his involvement in goals record aint actually half bad.

We all want the best players at Hillsborough but we should also get behind the ones we currently have too. Regardless of how much your paid, its not gonna be nice or easy to give your all for something when the people your playing for call your every contribution out as being crap. not a dig at you or anyone specifically, its just insane how much people hate on certain players, regardless of what they do.

To be honest, at matches he gets a lot of support from the fans; he's never been subjected to the boos and jeers that some players have. There might be the odd fan that expresses his dislike for AN but in the main hes well supported. The only criticism he gets is on online forums and if a poster wants to express his opinion (Not hate) then it's his choice. Many other players have been subjected to as much, if not more, criticism than AN, both on the pitch and on forums. For what it's worth, AN is not as good as some people make out nor is he as bad as some people make out. He's a frustrating player so I can see why he's criticised. Just don't stoop to calling people haters.

Have a good one!

How is it that the saying goes? Opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one :duntmatter:.

To be fair, it wasn't about calling anyone a hater. It just bewilders me the absolute pelters some players get on here and in the North where i sit, irrespective of how well they or the team are doing. Nobody is above criticism, and rightly so. But some will never ever let themselves see good in players like Fox and Nuhiu, no matter what they do on the pitch.

All the best to you and yours. Have a good one.

I think some of you are really trying too hard with this.

Me as well. He's a squad player in the second tier. He's good on his day and poor when hes on a bad day. His size often makes him look worse when he's playing badly as he can look clumsy. If he was consistent, he'd be in the Premier League just like 99% of the players in the division.

I don’t get these weekly Nuhiu threads.

It’s as if some of our fans turn up and think he is going to be different. Like running behind, like suddenly having pace or turning into a 20 goal a season striker.

Then get a strop on when it’s the same old Nuhiu.

I'm not a Nuhiu hater at all but I didn't think he had his best game yesterday.

He's a good last 10 minute man but we need a replacement as back up for Fletcher.

Every manager has used attey in there squad

even when we had a wealth of riches up front

all opposition managers are nervous of him maybe it’s a defend against that lump kind of fear as our managers Carlos, Bruce, bullen, Monk ( was Dross too) we’re all defenders

attey brings something different it’s very rarely pretty and frustrating but sometimes it can be effective

I think his presence alone makes the opposition think differently and that’s why he’s a good squad player

out our strikers out of contract

fletcher, winnal forestieri nuihiu i can only see him and fletcher being offered a new deal Whether I agree with that or not I wouldn’t be offended by it

Who needs stats?

Some think he does a job, others think him useless.

manager after manager wrong about him?

Opposition managers..Wrong about him?

It seems to me the fans that defend him are accused of saying he's the best we have...Most aren't

They are simply stating he is in the squad to do a job, for the want of better...That goes for EVERY player in the squad if we want to progress
