It was the same with that old clip of Ogrizovic scoring against Hodge - check out the commentary, and imagine you're listening on t'wireless. https://youtu.be/HDwVHKESAT4 Come to think of it, even one of the most iconic commetary snippets of all time, "they think it's all over...", is tecnically shocking from an actual 'describing the action' perspective. Nearly all the pre-1990s commentary I've ever seen was absolutely reliant on you also watching the match at the same time as the announcer, otherwise you wouldn't have a flipping clue what was going on.
