Carlos "Defence is not the problem at Sheffield Wednesday"

Bring back Loovens and Westwood. Loovens organises the defence and gets the best out of Lees. If Westwood can get over his early season wobbles he can make the difference in a tight game.

Nothing against Van Aken, he looks to be a star in the making but he's nor ready yet.

This is exactly what i was thinking..and its affecting the whole team..nothing against van aken but even pudil would make us more solid at the moment..

Listening to Carlos, I’m starting to think he’s a bit deluded. He is so stubborn he wil not or cannot change his ways, he just sticks to the tried and tested even when it’s clearly not working.

And listening to his press conferences, his office is fast becoming bullshiit central.

Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife.

"In reality in the last games, especially the last one, we took risks and left open spaces which makes it look like we are weak in defence, but when we play compact like a team and very solid (we've worked hard on this this week) and hard to beat, so it's not a defensive problem we have"

Jesus we're gonna be more defensive from here...shoot me now

translates as: We will carry on playing boring, negative football that will result in a lot of possession but we won't be able to break teams down and we won't get the results we want.

Not it doesn't. It translates to we have left gaps in defence through pushing people forward.

Its quite clear if you can speak English

Which means he's planning on playing more compact, defensive football which hasn't worked for us and bores the boobies off everyone.

It's quite clear if you can speak English, even for sarcastic people.

How does it possibly mean that. It literally doesn't state anything of the sort mate.

We have been playing far too open. Reach at full back with licence to get forward has left us open and has not helped Van Aken at all.

Meanwhile Jones in front of the back four couldn't tackle a fish supper.

We are simply not good enough to play teams off the park with full flowing attacking football especially playing 442. We don't have the midfield players to do it nor the pace.

Why people on here think we should be doing it is beyond me.

Our road to climbing the table is paved with clean sheets, playing a more compact game and trying to get confidence back into the players.

Read it again, if you can't see that what he's saying is we have had too many players getting forward and leaving gaps at the back, and that they've been working on playing more compact (defensive) in the week and what that means for the style of play we can expect then I don't know what to say to you. As someone said before in the thread, we lack balance, it's either compact dull football and we haven't been able to get beyond the oppositions defence or it's "throw all our strikers on and hope for the best."
