While I agree, we do need a winger, there is a flaw in your argument. We had a winger, a very good one, in fact we're unlikely to find a better quality wide man than Drenthe. We also had McGugan supplying the bullets from midfield, but with the same results. Our strikers are lame and their profligacy is the main reason we are struggling. If we get a decent striker, people will see how inadequate our current strikers are. Quite frankly, it's embarrassing reading the constant stream of excuses people make for them

Even more embarrassing is so called "fans" getting on the players backs when they need support. I can't wait for May to shut a few people up because it will happen. It's clear to see he has talent and at just 22, there's an awful lot to come from him.

Lets give the strikers some proper service instead of lumping the ball!

WTID!

When he does that, I'll shut up. In the meantime, perhaps he needs to practice a little more, cos he's way off the pace

Wood, Becchio, Murray, Sordell, Jutkiewicz.

Paterson, Stanislas, Hoilett, Grealish, Gnabry, Knockaert.

I know that getting any of them in is easier said than done, but it's not like suitable targets are impossible to find.

Wood - playing for a premier league side, targeted by top championship sides. Wages likely to be pretty high.

Becchio - played 5 games on loan at Rovrum, is he still injured?

Murray - 18 games, 8 goals for reading. Would be brilliant for anyone in the championship, but signed a new deal at palace. Possibly unlikely to go anywhere yet.

Sordell - played 14 games for Burnley this year, unlikely to go out.

Jutkiewicz - 20 games for Burnley, unlikely to go out.

Paterson - made approaches haven't we? If he's not moved before, he's unlikely to move with a new manager in.

Stanislas - playing at promotion hopefuls bournemouth. Will he swap a promotion chasing side for a middling champ outfit?

Hoillett - at QPR, might be in the new managers plans. If not, I can't see him dropping to championship level.

Grealish - everybody seems to have been linked with this guy. Chances of him coming to us are minimal.

Gnabry - just come back from injury. Again, why would you send him here to rehab?

Knockaert - ten games for Leicester, could be sent out - again, haven't we already enquired for him?

If we want a decent championship striker we'll need to pay for it, simples.

Work down the league table and look at each team's top scorer, Wilson,Martin,Murphy,Ighalo,Hooper,Gray,Dicko/Afobe,Rhodes/Gestede,Assombalonga....(With the exception of Middlesbrough) ALL those teams paid atleast 1mil+ for their strikers, in most cases edging towards 3mil.

How can we expect 800k Steve May to come in from the SCOTTISH division, or Bus from the BULGARIAN league or Nuhiu from [insert dirt poor middle eastern country] league? We bought our strikers from divisions that aren't as good as the Championship and for not alot of money. Yes, they have potential, but if we want a GUARANTEED goal scorer we're better off buying a player that's established in England.

And I think we all know by now loaning in some "talent" from the PL is not the answer, especially not for the long term.

Costa would struggle cause we create minimal chances per match.

Total new formation required to solve the goal scoring problems.

We've had Keane 5 Matches and he's not scored an open play goal.

Need more creation of clear cut chances, that's the problem.

Peoplecan chuck out names left, right and centre and we won't be the only team after these players IF they are available to loan.

People like Gnarby will be highly sought after, Premiership clubs were looking at loan moves for him before he got injured.

Aston Villa have got a new manager and Sherwood rates Grealish highly apparently and he ain't gonna let players go on loan yet if he does, they are in a relegation battle and he will need all the players, same applies with the likes of QPR.

It just seems people think that Wednesday will call and a player is willing to come or a club is certain to say yes.

Look at Shaun Wright Phillips, he has turned down lots of moves because he is happy to collect his massive wages, he hasn't played for a long time and maybe getting first team football would appeal to him but no, that can apply with other players too, like Wood, turns down a loan move, apparently to us, he turned down Wolves on a permanent deal (who could have offered more money than us).

There might be names out there but are they available?, Also for the quality we want we won't be the only team wanting/looking.

Do people honestly think that if Chris Wood was willing, club was willing we wouldn't have done it already, same goes with the likes of Paterson (who Freeman says he is going nowhere), If Knockaert wanted to come/club willing would we really pass that up?

Sometimes it's just baffling, yes we need players but it's not as easy as just saying "why not go for *insert name*".

Completely agree!

People need to remember, especially for older players, if they have the opportunity to play in the PL, there going to take it.

Do you not think Wood would rather fight for his place in the Leicester side than drop straight back down into the Championship? He might never get to play in the PL again. Players want to play in the highest division possible.

People can shout out names of young talents they've seen on Fifa and so on, but it's all meaningless.

Realistically we need money to attract young promising strikers and ambition that we're going to finish near the top 6. Afobe looks as though he could be a great signing for Wolves, and he went for around 2.5, surely we can scrap around 2 in the summer for a decent striker!

Stanislas hardly playing at bournemouth, 6 appearances all season surely the lad will want more game time ? promotion chasing team or not

The rest of them I think your pretty much bang on

You know what it's fine saying we need a striker, winger, Centre half, left back or whatever but bleeting on about it every single day making out that the club ain't doing anything is just pure mental.

Gray, Milan, the new owners will know our stats, how many we have scored at home etc and do people honestly think if the likes of Murray, Gnarby, Knockaert, Wood and other names were available and player/club agree to a loan we wouldn't have done it? Gray knows his job could be on the line.

Many players are happy to just collect their wages in the Premiership, playing or not and how on earth can you force a player out if they have that attitude and if a player is willing to come we don't know as to what the parent club want in a way of a percentage towards wages and a loan fee.

Look at Roger Johnson when he was here, at Wolves he was apparently on crazy money and did a major drop in wages to join us (he was losing money to play for us), and we couldn't get him back because he wouldn't do that drop again and Wolves wanted us to cover the wages - never going to happen.

All you hear from some people is, why would they move, they're at a Premier League club, sky high wages blah blah blah. Yeah until they join one of our rivals that is. I produced a list of 20 strikers who either are available, or have moved for nothing, or on loan, to championship clubs this season. All could have done a job for us. The same people were saying similar stuff before we signed Wickham and Fryatt last season.

People would justify a turd if it gave an excuse for not perusing a player. No decent player is easy to get, but we should still bust a gut trying.

Gnabry is in the same boat Afobe was in last year after a serious knee injury. A loan might be the next positive step on his comeback trail.

Sordell, 2 league starts all season. Stanislas, 6 league starts all season. They are there to be shot at. Jamie Paterson too; people will argue the case we already tried, but he's made just 3 league starts all season - the lad won't be content with that. Add the fact Forest are chasing Grealish & Powell, there could still be a deal to be done for him if he's up for the move.
