If Sheffield Wednesday were an 80's pop band

We'd be The Nolan sisters

A few cracking big hits every now and again that gets everyone excited and up on their feet, but no real consistency in the quality of what they put out

A group that has it's best times behind it, with the really big successes only remembered by the older ones, with the young un's yet to experience the sheer euphoria of dancing in sync with each other, with swinging arms, and belting out the words to the songs at full blast

A couple of bangers that make you dance and sing, but then a load of album tracks that leave you empty and wanting more.

Nice to look at every now and again but with a couple of crusty old beggars in there that need replacing to make it proper quality stuff (maybe that lass who does the maths on Countdown)

Overall a bumpy ride in the charts and an average rating of 5 out of 10 overall

I would say we were New Order.

Our "Dreams Never End"

I question my "Senses"

There are a few "Blue Monday"s

Sometimes I am in "Ecstasy"

And other times just "Leave Me Alone"

Hillsborough can be a bit of a "Paradise"

We have had the odd "Broken Promise"

Bit its become a "Way of Life"

We keep looking for the "Dream Attack"

And would have loved "Best & Marsh"

We have had plenty of "Confusion"

Plenty of "True Faith"

A "Bizarre Love Triangle" (the missus says I love Wednesday more than her)

We had the "Power Corruption & Lies" a few years back

The "Technique" of Hirsty & Waddle

A lot of "Regret"

Sometimes we have had a "Fine Time"

A bit of "Movement"

Some "Low Life"

A lot of "Shellshock"

And we seem to go "Round and Round"

We think we are "Special"

"Times Change"

But we are "Here to Stay"

The Smiths.

Totally misunderstood and although they obviously had pedigree, history and quality....they never really threatened the top 10.

With a propensity to focus on he darker elements of life...they also had the abity to laugh in the face of adversity with a wry smile and a killer tune.

Songs to justify my choice....

Suffer little Children

Heaven Knows I'm misereable now

Stop me if you think you've heard this one before

Cemetry gates

Panic

I started something I couldn't finish (MM)

There is a light and it never goes out

To name but a few
