What the OP says about Jones, could have been said about Megson, just with different names in place.

Strange that innit.

Scrap the development squad, free that wage budget

  FFS!.

The developement squad will begin to pay for it's self next season, it's called forward planning, where as what you are proposing is called panic buying, getting the club in the same mess we came out of 3 years ago.

The very name 'Develeopement, means that it will take time and coaching, while we are at it lets get rid of all scouting as well.

Idiot. Do you not realise that most large businesses who want to succeed and / or grow, have a research and development division! That's essentially what the development squad is.

Also, we're in the Championship.

People can say Milan Mandaric hasn't backed Dave Jones but in reality he has and IMO Jones has messed up.

He raved about signing Chris Maguire and then took him nearly a full season to put in him the 16 and was set to loan him to Portsmouth but he got injured and it still looks like he could move him on if possible.

It wasn't until Stuart Gray (half the season gone?) came in he decided to start using Keiron Lee and then played him on the right side of midfield.

Another he raved about was Danny Mayor now he's been sent out to Bury on loan for the season and i doubt he will be seen in a Wednesday shirt again (won't his contract nearly be at an end? Not sure if he signed a 2 or 3 year deal).

Martin Taylor was a disaster signing and he now can't even get in the 16, was stripped of the club captain and lost the number 5 shirt to Zayatte.

Resigning Llera and then being asked on Radio Sheffield the other day if Llera could go out on loan and he said yes it's possible.

Resigning Coke and Prutton too but then going on about how the budget is at it's limit yet knowing we are desperate for a midfielder yet neglects that area.

Joe Mattock is another that doesn't get a look in last season and probably one that Jones might have looked at to get out on loan.

He's admitted he want's to bring in another goalkeeper to push Kirkland but it's that the least of our worries at the moment? We already have 3 other goalkeepers. What does it say about Davies and what must he be thinking even tho we just offered him a new deal in the summer.

Then with Madine it looks pretty clear that he doesn't seem to rate him and would probably have liked him to go out on loan and he has an up and coming court case yet this has been known all summer and we have been left with 2 senior strikers - Nuhiu and Maguie, one that is new to english football and the other can't really seem to get a look in but it's ok because we will just push a winger up top who can't really shoot in Antonio.

Then look at people like Bothroyd and Rodri what a waste of wages they both was.

You would have thought with our budget which would have been known for a long time that it would have been managed much, much better. I know this FFP has had an impact but even more reason to be sure that you make the most of every single penny available to you.

And dont forget Savic , hes been brought in using the same mind set , remember Rodri

Another football financial genius trying to tell professional football people how to do their job

Good post and hard to argue against any of those points.

I defend DJ a lot but I must agree that we do seem to have wasted a lot of money over the last 12 months, on paper the likes of Taylor and Mattock were excellent signings at this level but for one reason or another it hasn't worked out. I'm not a financial expert though and I trust DJ and MM know what they're doing.

Every manager in the country will moan about their budget (except Pellegrini, Mourinho and Moyes)

It is what it is, all you can do is get the best from what you have to work with, can we say Jones has done that?

To have Olofinjana on trial supposedly waiting for us to ship someone out is madness after offering both Coke and Prutton new deals

The thing is with Joe Mattock he was Brighton's player of the season(i'm sure of it) and a very experienced Championship LB and they were desperate to keep him yet he comes here and can't even get on the bench, even when Reda was injured we played Helan there and then shoved Helan forward and brought in Pugh and played him at LB - it seemed we would rather do anything than play Joe Mattock.

I think Jones' tactic when getting players in on the cheap is to sign a few, in the hope that some will come good, knowing the rest won't. For example Mattock and Mayor did flop, but on a free they looked like decent signings. Mayor is young and well thought of at Preston, Mattock was rated highly at Brighton by there fans. The other side of the coin is both Gardner and Kirkland had bad injury records and looked like risky bits of business. The gambles paid off on both of them. Just as Bothroyd didn't work and Lita did. I think that's what happens when you're mainly relying on loans and frees. The players are loans and frees for a reason.

We will see how much quality comes out of the development, you are rumbleing deluded to think

The development squad is more important over the first team.

He simply wasn't doing it when given the chance last season. He took a major slating on here.
