beloved_aunt
Kirkland, Zayatte and Gardner were all quality on Saturday, a bit of Premiership class. But we were seriously weak in the full back areas, particularly when Mattock went off, playing two midfielders out of position and it showed. For the 2nd goal Helan didn't seem to notice Barton sneaking up behind him and didn't defend his back post well (and got a huge bollocking off Prutton as a result) whilst Palmer was constantly skinned by Hoillet. Assuming Reda, Buxton and Mattock won't be back in the immediate future what is the answer?

Orlando_Trustful
I certainly can't see us signing a FB as we have far more pressing issues, for example up front. I think we'll wait it out until Reda and Buxton are fit.

beloved_aunt
Lack of proper full backs killed us again last night. Whilst both goals were great technical shots our inability to clear the second ball is what gave them the opportunity to shoot. Buxton and Reda would be more naturally alert to clear the second ball in those situations (Zayatte and Gardner did enough to stop Rotherscum winning the firsts) and we missed them. Think it would be too defensive to play both at home, but wouldn't be upset to see Semedo or Llera in one of the full back positions on Saturday to give us an extra naturally defender and head in the box at set pieces. Guest wilyfox
I'd play Semedo at RB. Defensively, you know he'll be sound - and he played there before at Charlton.
cowl
Maybe we could play 3-5-2? Not sure how wise it is to start playing a new system all of a sudden though.
Lee A
I dont like having to play somebody like Palmer there, but I doubt he'll be the only one to get skinned by Hoilett in this division, I'd wager Buxton would have had his hands full to be fair. I would try that but it won't happen as for some reason it seems DJ would rather have a poo sandwich than give Semedo a game.

SWFC_Liam
I'd like to see Palmer moved into midfield, and Semedo given a game at right back. Semedo is better defensively than Palmer.

Could this be an indication he's one of those refusing to go out on loan that DJ mentioned? Semedo's not played competitively for a while so he'll probably be a bit rusty too. On paper it looks as though we have the players for this. Problem is 352 only really works when you're playing against two strikers, you get a great advantage of 2 man markers and a spare man, then also a spare man in midfield. But with most teams only playing one up now it doesn't help so much as you just lose two players from the game.

Depends on entirely how the opposition line up Also it doesn't seem to do Watford any harm playiing 3-5-

It's a shame some players don't want to go out on loan. It's fair enough in some respects, didn't Lavery go on loan to Southend last season and not play much? Not sure what he learnt there. Exactly, no point sat on here bitching about players for not going out on loan. We have no idea what they were offered.
