Gary Madine - Goal Machine

Recommended Posts

lets not get carred away with GM eh?

ok so COG had a poor game but wasn't it his flick that put Berkely clear?

GM did well and so he should have - if he's hungry enough DJ will know

Verdict = jury still out at this level

poo poo his doubters up today with man of the match performance

Did more in his short spell on the pitch than COG did all game (real O'Grady off day today wasnt it)

Madine brightened up a dull game and steered us to three points almost single handedly

Great flick on by GOG to set up our first goal

Semedo was by fair the best man on the pitch. But it was great to see Madine on the pitch and wanting it. I still believe he has the potential to be a seriously good player at this level. Just needs the confidence. Really hope to see more of Rodri soon too, but need more confidence throughout the side first.

Threads like these just confuse people who didn't go to the game. He fell over, headed it once, stood like a statue and maybe flicked one pass on.

COG meanwhile set up the opening goal, hassled, intimidated and generally worked hard at the thankless task of being the lone striker.

This^

COG deserves more credit than what he gets for the work that he put in yesterday although Madine offered abit more pace when he came on.

Can't really see how Madine will get goals though unless our midfield starts feeding them balls to run onto and you could see his frustration in some instances yesterday where things just didn't fall for him

Madine is MILES better than COG and i'm getting sick of saying it. The only problem is that he isn't a battering ram which is wheat we need at the moment with this 4-5-1 formation. I guarantee COG will be gone long before Madine!

COG looked bad today because he had absolutely zero help from Bothroyd. Absolute waste of space on that performance. Get back to 4-4-2 at home.

Said it before Gazza is a big confidence player. Not involving him and then expecting him to come off the bench and bag a winner is not likely to happen.

He needs to start a few games to see him at his best. Once he gets a goal he will be a different player.

Remember last year? Everyone said he was gash until he scored that tap in, then he went on a MASSIVE run.

Agree he needs a run of games, but your last point is not true. The same people who say he's gash now were saying it then. They just quietened down when he started scoring.

Trouble with ALL the three of them (COG, GM and Bothroyd) is that they didn't make any real attempts at attacking the ball in the area. They are all supposed to be goal scoring forwards, but they couldn't get in the position that Lieira did for his goal. He's a centre back and he showed them how it's done - he wanted the ball and gave himself the best chance of getting it. No other Wednesday forward was anywhere near the ball - embarrassing really. It's not a one-off either, it's happening week after week. They all, especially Madine, need to up their game.
