alanharper
I remember Wednesday playing on the same day as England a few years back, guess which game the band were at. If there's a chance of getting themselves a few seconds on the telly they'll be there, Wednesdayites my arse.
web_owls
The band are a bad omen always have been. When they appear we seem to drop. When they were banned or before they were created we were on the rise. Coincidental? Me thinks not. LS welcommed them back and looked what happened. Our reliance on the band to create an atmosphere is one of the biggest mistakes the crowd have ever allowed to happen. Let them go away and slowly but surely Hillsborough will find it's voice once again.

Guest Big Guns
The band has always lifted an atmosphere comparable to a library at Hillsborough, where we may have the best away fans in the country our home fans are shocking and the band is needed to create an atmosphere! thats correct we get a 16 seater for the away days and only 4 of us attend home games.im not talking owt about them fookwits in the band here Edited March 27, 2011 by Big Guns

The comparison with a library is appropriate. Just like we are meant to be quiet in a library, the band will 9 times out of 10, silence the crowd if they dare to get behind the players. Similar scenario at 14:55. Just as the crowd and their noise is building, prior to kick off, the flipping dj puts the music on full blast to shut them up. Usually takes 20 minutes or so to get them going again. This has one benefit - Hillsborough is not as daunting for the opposition.

razaswfc
The fact is, the band make no difference, what so ever. The only thing that happens is that you can't hear the fans because of the huge din. It sounds so much better and louder when everyone starts singing 'Hark now hear', people actually join in with that unlike the same old songs the band play. Plus, the band can't play 'Hark now hear'. The song about fishcake is pretty immature too.

barmyowl1212
its too flippingbig and open So why was it loud when the Kop had no roof? Its because we are sat down! Yesterday had loads of people sat down and the atmosphere was poo poo. Not like the usual away game!
Pompeyowl
They won't be at Hillsborough, I guarantee you that. They are the Engalnd band before anything else now.
sheffield_dave
It's a shame they're not permamently the England band, so they wouldn't turn up at Hillsborough even when England aren't playing. People moan about the atmosphere at Hillsborough but this idea that the band create atmosphere is a fallacy. What they create is noise. Noise which often drowns out and discourages those few moments of genuine, spontaneous noise from the actual fans. They're a monotonous drone of banging with some badly played trumpeting in the background, and it's often at odds with what the supporters are actually singing when we do find our voice. They're awful. Simply awful. It's not even the sort of thing that even warrants a difference of opinion. If you like the band then you're wrong and an idiot. I hold similar views to yourself about the band, and when posting them in the past, I have been confronted with the positives that have come with their fame. Work in schools and for charity cannot be faulted but their time is up at Hillsborough IMO. They should never have been brought back. Pure cheese.
