Club statement

Recommended Posts

The club is no where near valueless. Apart from the obvious such as ground, lease on training ground and player values (although some would argue players contracts are more of a vulnerability than an assett!) they soft values are huge.

Not withstanding the brand value, SWFC have in effect a franchise for the football league, one of only 72 in the world and one which is required to gain access (along with other things) to the premier league and it's current riches.

That is why we should not sell the club for such a pittance

I agree about the (potential) value of the brand. I overlook it because it would now take a lot of marketing expertise to turn it into effectiveness . It's dormant if only because it is difficult to promote a third division club nationally or worldwide. And the Training Ground should be added to the assets but we did have trouble selling it some years ago.

I am assuming that any predator would look at short term values to build upon as we are not likely to attract the kind of investor with millions to spare as are attracted to the Prem clubs.

Anybody taking over Wednesday is likely to be cautious about throwing their money around as we have gone down so far. It could easily go wrong.

But of course our marketing worldwide should have been a feature for years. We are known all round the world. People holidaymaking round the world know it.

However I am not sure about the other sources of value quoted. Access to the Prem is theoretical only given the money needed to get there to stay and our playing staff is surely not worth much more than £4M.

The board are clearly worried- about 10 days ago, DeejayOne kindly found out (after being asked by someone on here) why no statement was made regarding C9S and their offer. The answer James was told to pass on was that we didn't want to get drawn into a *** for tat PR scrap. And yet less than 2 weeks later, and the board have felt sufficiently pressured as to release a statement which they didn't feel was neccesery so recently- i reckon they're feeling the heat as you say.

That was and is all true, we don't want a ***-for-tat, it doesn't help anyone.

However, as the statement says, we want to concentrate on the credible possible investors and focus on the season, which is just a week away!

Couple that with the sheet amount of complete rubbish being perpetuated behind the scenes (where has the absolute tosh come from that people are continuing even now about the bank supporting the C9S bid?! They aren't!), then a simple clarification was needed - by the club, and the bank.

So, in essence the position of the club and bank hasn't changed, but a clarification was felt necessary - from the club and the bank - as we gear up to the season start.

So are you saying Club9 are lying about this claim?

And, are there really any other 'credible investors', or even any potential investors at all?

C9S have agreed their offer with the bank before taking it to the board, it doesn't mean they're 'supported' by the bank. Which is how some have interpreted it.

Without trying to split hairs, whats the difference, in this instance between, 'agreed' and 'supported'!!?

Has the tax bill been paid? Has the transfer embargo been lifted yet? Why isn't this kind of stuff being "stated"? Don't the fans have a right to know about this kind of thing?

The C9S offer includes £6.5m debt write off, which obviously the bank have to agree to and it seems they have. It doesn't mean they 'support' C9S and are putting pressure on the board to take the deal.

Tomato tamato.

Yeah but it explains why the club can say "the bank don't 'support' the C9S bid" "support" suggests the the bank are taking sides.

How do they do that?

They don't but that's the rumour and that's the rumour I think DJ1 is denying.

The bank have agreed with C9S to reduce the debt IE they agree to C9S's offer in principle, so C9S can claim they have the Co-Op's support. However the bank stand by the board's decision, whatever that may be. So the board claim they have the Co-Op's 'support'.

It's all just PR gonads IMO.

It's not my place to speak on behalf of the bank (or even the club on this issue), so I'll just mention this comes solely from an educated own opinion.

The bank might have 'seen' the offer. That doesn't mean they 'agree' with it or 'support' it.

The bank do, however, agree with the club statement put out yesterday.

Interpret that as you will.
