Ever the pessimist
‘So, agenda item one everyone… the possibility of a salary cap’. Raucous laughter. ’Item two then… moving the community shield to Timbuktu’ Table thumping in agreement

Wynyard Owl
A salary cap would look good on paper but would be virtually unenforceable when there was a maximum wage there were many ways of getting round it there was a club newly elected to the league that paid its wages in cash once signed for the players went upstairs and were rewarded with cash that no one knew about. This came out of the owners spare cash Some players were taken on by employers who never saw them but paid a wage. Nothing changes cash is King and can be well concealed

lukeyswfc Posted Monday at 15:09 Share Posted Monday at 15:09 I see this has been sent for approval. But I don’t really understand how it’s a positive - stating you can now spend as much as the team with the lowest TV rights, so that’s all of them not in Europe. So are they saying you can now go up and spend like Forest and it’s ok? Surely this is going to create a wider gap between the leagues.
Alb1owl Posted Monday at 15:21 Share Posted Monday at 15:21 It will be meaningless if it tied to “revenue”, in the way that Qatar City’s revenue is inflated by probably what accounting. It has to be below the maximum that the richest teams could afford so poorer teams aren’t priced out regardless, otherwise it isn’t a cap for the benefit of all but one that just saves the big clubs some money. trumbullowl Posted Monday at 17:59 Share Posted Monday at 17:59 They are looking at a 500 million pounds a season spending cap. Newcastle will love it!!

It would be difficult with so much cash around to hide it
